There are a lot of different possible issues that may cause this most likely the TV is on the wrong station. Try tuning it to 60 or 73 if this doesn't resolve the issue just reply!

Hello prunefeet.

If you're certain you've connected the cables correctly, I think the part you may be missing is selecting the correct input on the TV. Switch the TV and DVD player on, then press the INPUT button on the RCA remote (supplied with the TV) slowly and repeatedly until you either get the setup/welcome screen from the Sony DVD player or you return to the TV channels again.

If you don't have the original RCA remote control or you cannot find the signal from the DVD player by pressing the INPUT button, please can you let me know the following:

1. How many jacks/plugs are there on each end of your RCA cables - 3 or 5?
2. Which remote control do you use to operate the TV?

Front Panel Lock
Selecting this option lets you lock (disable) or unlock (enable) the TV's front panel. The remote still tunes to any channel. When using this as a Parental Control method, remove access to any remote
that is capable of operating the television.
1. From the PARENTAL CONTROL menu, press the up or down arrow to highlight Lock Fr. Panel.
2. Press the right or left arrow to turn on (box has check mark) or off (box doesn't have check mark) front panel lock.

first off are there any speakers close to the tv ?. if so move them secondly your degauss circuit may need servicing.

If, when you turn down the color control all the way you have a black and red picture, then your picture tube is most likely weak and it's time to replace the set. If the black and white picture is normal, then the set could have a problem in the chroma circuit. Either way, it would not likely be worth repairing.

on the kine board,( the small board plugged on the back of the tube.) look for and test rb030,rb050,rb070, all 3 resistors sould read 1000 ohm (or 1k ohm). I suspect one of there resistors are open. if not on ib001 (same board). you can check for these voltages. pin1 2.8v, pin2 2.9v, pin3 2.9v, pin4 0v (ground), pin55.9v, pin6 181v, pin7 104v, pin8 105v, pin9 111v. all voltages are in dc. hope this helps.

The 20F530T uses the relatively newer ITC008 chassis. If the picture collapses down and only a small bright line is visible, it means that your vertical output IC has stopped working correctly. This could be due to a defective IC, cracked solder joints on the IC or the power supply that feeds it. The IC should be replaced or resoldered and/or the vertical power supply restored by an experienced tech familiar with the new line of RCA TV's.

Try to check the power supply output side where anything could came into contact with positive and negative line for which when you press play button then it shuts down.

RCA video cables handle analog signals. HDMI cables carry digital video signals. You need a converter. If you are using a component video converter, check if you swapped two of the three RCA video cables. (There are some A/V projectors that can do the translation of RCA and HDMI internally. Most TVs do not.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (One of my family's TVs used a dongle to condense the analog video signal to a single port, swapping blue and green gave a black and white output, IIRC.)

Most modern tv remotes are not normally designed to be repaired. You will possibly need to replace it. there are plenty of cheaper after market version that will do the job just as well. Your other option, and yes I know this is a silly answer, when you want to mute the TV is to simply press the volume down button to zero then turn it back up when you want sound.
