My Samsung 65" DLP is almost 3 years old. While watching tv a very loud vibrating sound stated coming from within the tv. I turned the power off for an hour then tried it again. As soon as the power came on the same loud vibrating sound could be heard, (there was still a picture) so I immediately trurned the set off. I'm not good at reapairing the set myself. Any idea what it might be or do I need to take it in to be repaired. Would it be expensive to repair?Thank you
The color wheel is the most common problem in DLPs that cause noise. To determine the cause: Turn the set off. If the noise goes away after about five seconds, then, the problem is the color wheel. If the noise goes away one to two minutes after shut off, then, the problem is a fan. You can find an Authorized Servicer in your area that can tell you the price of repair, by clicking on the Samsung link: http://www.samsung.com/Support/ServiceLocations/index.htm

My DLP TV will have faint purple and Green lines witch seem to move bottom to top every 5-10 seconds. It only happens once and awhile when I have a component source hooked up (PS3).

I have a Samsung DLP TV, model HL-S5086W that intermittently shuts off after about half an hour. Once it is warmed up, it can shut off once an hour or ten times an hour.
Hello All, I may have an inexpensive solution to your problem. I had the same problem with my TV as well. It would shutoff by itself about an hour after it was turned on. The when I would turn it on again it would shut off after 5 to 10 minutes. Finally I got fed up. I knew it was not my bulb because the picture still looks good. I did here a buzzing if I would turn the TV on right away after it would shut off. That was do to the bulb recharging itself. I noticed the TV was extremely hot in the back. So automatically I thought it was the cooling of the set. All post I read keep saying the TV would last about 2 years to a year after a service. Which would be right because (most) service repair clean out the units before installing new parts. What I did was I opened unplugged the TV from the wall and opened unscrewed the back panel door. I used my Air compresser and blew out all the dust inside. ( A can of compressed air should do the job if you do not have a compressor) I removed the bulb and blew out the dust on the bulb as well. I did not remove the bulb from the housing unit. After I dusted the bulb and housing unit I reinstalled it. I keep my home clean but you should have see all the dust that came out. The dust covering the components overheat the unit which causes it to shutdown. It has been about 2 weeks and have not experienced any problems since. All I can say is give this a try and maybe this will work for you. This will only cost you about 10 dollars and 30 minutes of your time. This is better that Hundreds of Dollar in repair.

I have the 50in version of the Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56...the TV stay on for awhile and turns off by it self. i can turn it back on right away and some times it stays on for a awhile before turning off and some times it keeps turning off right away.
I have not checked the indicator lights yet but i plan to the next time it happens.
Please advise.
We have a Samsung HL-S6187W that's only a year and a half old that was having the same problem.... it would shut off for no reason... sometimes after being on for awhile but then sometimes it would shut off w/in a minute of it being on. Called Samsung support and they said to unplug and "reset" the T.V. and if that didn't happen they'd send a tech out (at a fairly steep service charge) and they would troubleshoot it. Talked to my audio/video guy that installed it all and he said it was probably the lamp that needed to be replaced (obviously for labor and parts charge). We really don't use the T.V. that much (have another flat screen 20' away in the kitchen we watch more often) so I seriously doubted it was the lamp.... plus it couldn't be turning off from over heating because sometimes it would turn off RIGHT after turning the set on.
After reading several suggestions here on Fixya I incorporated a few options to try and fix it myself and I am ecstatic to report that it's been over a month and a half, and we've watched it alot, and it's completely FIXED and doesn't turn off anymore --- and it didn't cost me a cent to fix!!! WOW!! Thanks to all the suggestions... this is a great website!!
Here's what I did:
1. Took off back lamp cover and vacuumed out the entire area (there wasn't ANY dust... but thought it couldn't hurt to clean it out anyway).
2. I disconnected the temperature sensor and cleaned off the contacts and plugged back in firmly.. (I think this is what the real solution was),
3. I then moved the "Auto Shut Off Switch" back and forth a little then made sure it was in the correct position when I replaced the lamp door cover (it's not hard to make sure it's positioned correctly).
Voila!! It's all fixed! This site has great pictures of the correct way to position the Auto Shut Off Switch and of the temp. sensor if you need it.

I have a Samsung DLP TV, model HL-S5086W that intermittently shuts off after about half an hour. Once it is warmed up, it can

I have a Samsung DLP HLN50 - the Temp light flashes and the TV shuts off-Sounds simple? It's not - The TV can be off for days (so no way it's hot) the second you turn it on - the Temp light flashes and it shuts off - you have to wait and wait and when it finally shuts off - quickly turn it on again. Over and over and over.
We have cleaned the vents and have it far from the wall with a big fan blowing across the back (not directly INTO). -- It's been doing this for a VERY long time - Now , it will only stay on 5 min. or so. As it shuts down, it gives a little 5 note tune. I can turn it on again in a few minutes, but then after another 5 or so minutes it shuts itself off. I think it's trying to tell me something-but I don't know what ? It's probably something simple and I don't want to pay a fortune to a repairman , the TV's have come down in prices in the last few years- still can't afford one right now, so I need to fix this one. Thanks
I had the same problem and stumbled on the fix. It seems there is a factory defect. Open the lamp cover and you will probobly notice that the blue shut off switch on the left side is landing on top od the lamp cover. Reach down with a pencil or something and make sure the switch is under the tab on the lamp cover. My 50 DLP has not shut down since I set the switch properly. Free fix... try it.

heres the scenerio. when the set is off the standby/temp indicator on the power button is lit. when you press the power button the lamp light blinks once, then the temp/standby light blinks once, then the lamp light will continually blink. the bulb is lit in the back and its super bright so im sure the bulb isnt the problem. after a minute of the lamp light flashing the set will eventually shut off. usually when this happens it will eventually turn on and work after cycling the set on and off, except this time its been like this for over 2 days now, and I can't get the set to come on. Now i have noticed when it is dark in the room, while the lamp indicator lite is blinking, you can see a vary faint "glow" to the picture screen, if this helps troubleshoot anything?
So far I have confirmed that the color wheel is working.
I've confirmed that the bulb is lit.
I've confirmed that the switch on the back access door for the lamp service door is working properly.
I've confirmed that the thermostat mounted to the bulb housing works.
So what is the next likely culprit on this piece of garbage that is only 2.5 years old?
I have a solution for The United States of America! "If We Don't Make It, We Don't Need It".
Personally, I believe if we went back to actually manufacturing things in this country and stopped importing everything, a lot of these problems would STOP!

Samsung big screen tv is 2 years old getting white dots all over what can I do?
My Samsung was fixed for "free." Call Samsung service 800 number. When asked why you are calling tell them it is about the white dots problem. The tech said he would help me solve the issue and provide me with repair order from a local Electronics dealer. I was given a work order number by the tech and did receive a call from the local repair organization. My DLP is over 36 months old so I asked if this was a "no charge" fix. He assured me that it is. Low and behold I am 100% satisfied with Samsung and the standing behind the product. The fix is a chip replacement that Samsung is well aware of.

Only 1.5 years old 40 inch LCD 1080i. Clicks for about 5 to 10 minutes, then turns on. Once on works fine. Tonight its not turning on at all.
Its a common problem with many Samsung LCD TVs. We had the same problem on our Samsung TV. Based on some info on the net we called Samsung Support department ( 1-800-SAMSUNG). After describing the problem and mentioning that I have read on the net that its a common problem, representative asked for the model number and serial number of the TV ( I read them to her from a sticker on the side of TV). The Samsung Rep acknowledged that it was a common problem for my model and few other LCD models and they were fixing the problem without any charge to customer eve though TVwas out of warranty. She took the required info and gave me the ticket/transaction number and forwarded it to a local technician. Technician called next day and setup the appointment with us. Technician came within the 4 hr window that he had promised and changed the faulty capacitor on the power board and was done within 10 mins. Samsung rep had indicated that the technician will determine if the issue was with capacitor or not. If the issue was something else then tecnician will charge the regular service charge to fix the issue.
