Sounds like a bad lamp to me.

Possibly a bad digital module. Have seen them do this before.

Samsung HLN507W turns on for about one minute then shuts off, three blinking lights stay on in front. It is not the lamp, nor the blue lamp cover switch for sure. I unplug it and immediately turn it on. It always does the same thing: comes on for 1 minute, then powers down - there is no wait time in between unplugging and powering on. All fans seem to work and I cleaned the dust out of it. Help.

This tv have a colors wheel design in it.The tv make loud grinding motor noises or pictures flashes or freeze and pictures turn in black&white with sound.The tv colors wheel it is dying or worn out already.Don't tries to change the tv colors wheel ur self.If u don't any mechanical skills,because the colors wheel it sit way back of the tv,must take out many mechanical parts before even can come to the tv colors wheel itself to replace it.Best to hire a tv tech. to change the colors wheel,so no problems for tv funstions for later or damages more parts on the tv set,if u install the new colors wheel in the tv wrong way.

You Tube have video by somebody take out the old colors wheel and steps by steps and a replacement of a new colors wheel put into the DLP tv.

Hi, It may not actually need repair. Check on back of television to see if there is a switch saying p/s-I ( short for pan & scan and Interlaced ) the second one being what is used when connecting to non H.D. sources. I hope this helps, good luck Prodzilla

You need to replace the digital board

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV. Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired ofcourse) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companiesPhilips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failedin 2-5 years instead of 10-20. Thecapacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in allsorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems. Here are some options for you. 1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is itunder warranty?) Remember, TVs CONTAINHIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk. 2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cordplugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad capsreplace the entire board. The entireboard costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now.They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though. 3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill. Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourselfit will save you hundreds. This may be your problem. The colors wheel is dead.That why,u hearing high pitched whining sound.The colors wheel is spinning off of is motor axis and grinding it sides walls,that where the high pitched whining sound came from.Hire a tv Tech. for the colors wheel changing,because it requiring to take out alots of the machanicals parts itself,before u can come to the colors wheel itself to change it.

Most likely bulb is is out or ventilation is covered in dust. Price depends on area you live and what you can do yourself. The dust and bulbs are the first cheapest way to go.

its sounds more like the digital board that needs to be replaced

Thanks for using FixYa To start with open the lamp door and check the lamp door switch, check if the lamp is working. However, from what you have described it seems to be an issue with the Digital Board going bad, it is the large metal tin covered board in the rear of the TV where the VGA Cable is plugged in. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

could be a setting that has the speakers turned off, could be a connection, or possibly your cable box has a problem. if youre running cable directly from the wall it could be a weak cable signal. you could always run the audio to a a/v reciever(surround sound, etc) just to get sound if none of the above apply

Sounds like lamp? Verify the air vents are clean and that the lamp is not over 8k hours

First you have to remove the Optics Engine itself, Locate the lamp housing and remove the lamp, the color wheel is attached to a large grey or black heat sink looking device, with two screws holding it in place. Look for a copper colored flex cable, and a small three wire plug connection to a Aluminum container. Trace these wires form the container which is by the way called the DMD Module. Tracing the wires will lead you directly to the color wheel assembly. Remove tthe two screws holding the color wheel in place and lift up gently, their is also a rubber seal around the color whee housing that needs to be replaced also but should come with the new wheel.
