Can't clean Ionic Pro CA-500 inside?

This unit is a pain in the @$$ to disassemble but it CAN be done. The way I always look at it: Someone ASSEMBLED it.

Remove the four screws on the bottom stand followed by two screws on the bottom side of the unit. Then remove the tiny little screws up each side that hold the grill together (you will need a precision screwdriver).

Carefully pull apart- don't force it.

One half comes off (clean that half) in bathtub. The other half does not come off-vacuum that half out and use q-tips.

When re-assembling, watch for two things: First the wire cleaner (that slides) runs on a track on each half- pull it out a little to best allow for fitting. Second, there are little tabs at the top that fit under the control panel-watch for those.

email me at [email protected] if any problems.

My Ionic Pro doesn't turn on

i have taken the unit apart and found that if there is a broken wire you have to be a magician to fix it even if you had spare wires.

also found a small fuse in the bottom of the unit but it is soldered in. i am currently in the process of replacing and will post results asap.

Can I still use the air purifier if I put clean filters even if light is on red light wont go off

Mine had a latch on the back top with a label, " pull up to clean if crackling". I pulled it up and observed a wiper sliding up the big wire inside. I did it up and down several times and that fixed mine.

Our air purfier woke me up to a sound of crackling

It could be - if you turn off the lights, can you see any arcing (mini-lightning) inside the unit? If you see sparking, you probably have accumulated dust/dirt inside that will need to be cleaned out. You may also have a crack or hole in the discharge plate(s), in which case you need to replace them. Let me know what you find.

RED CLEAN LIGHT

After cleaning the unit, blue light turns on momentarily then red cleaning light comes back on. Have cleaned and dried unit including the contacts on the end (cleaned with alcohol). Sounds like a common problem, any solution?

Clean button

My ionic pro did the same, the red light just wouldnt go out, so I looked down the plate opening, (with unit unplugged), and could see one of the wires was broken. (these are the ones you clean by pulling up that plastic tab). I am currently looking for replacement wires, will post my progress. GregV

The wire inside the back

Hello,

The answer is yes, it can be fixed. It all depends if you know about electronic repairs or not. If you don't know about electronics repairs, you can take it to the nearest repairman to fix it for you.

But if you feel you can do this yourself, you will need a soldering iron and led to fix the wire back to its right position.

Get a screw driver open the unit in other to gain access to the spot that got lose, heat the soldering iron and when its very hot, use a led to put the wire to its position.

Good luck.

Clean lite on /leaves dust on furniture

Ok, makes me wonder why anyone would trust the Chinese to make a reliable product, but... try cleaning the contacts at the base of the blades with an alcohol swab or pencil eraser; if they're the least bit dirty or have a film on them, the contacts will not make up properly and the unit will think it needs cleaning!

The low button light is going out.

"A blinking light indicates when the blades should be wiped clean with a damp cloth." I actually had a "handyman" contract last year to visit an elderly gentleman once a month and clean all 9 of his Ionic Breeze GP air purifiers. Before I did that for him, they would make hissing noises and he really didn't like that. Here's how to clean the operative compnents of these machines: First, unplug the machine and place on a work surface, such as a table or kitchen counter. Second, remove the metal blade insert from the top by gripping the release tab and lifting it up and out. Also remove the front and back grilles by pressing on the plastic tab at the bottom and lifting up on them. Third, use a damp rag or paper towel to wipe the three metal blades clean. Do not immerse this assembly in water, because it has to be completely dry when re-installing it in the machine. Fourth, use a small piece of damp paper towel to VERY GENTLY wipe clean the two thin wires inside the unit. These are located behind the two rubbery flat blades just inside the unit and can be accessed from the front side. You won't damage these rubbery flat blades by pushing your hand gently between them, but be VERY CAREFUL when wiping the wires clean. (This step is important, as the wires must be clean.) Fifth, using another bit of damp paper towel, carefully clean the wire attached to the inside of the front grille. Dry this off with a dry bit of paper towel, then clean any accumulated dirt off the front & back grilles. Check the metal contact near the bottom of the front grille (attached to the wire) to verify that it's clean and will make good electrical contact. Sixth, pick the unit up and turn it upside-down & right-side up about 6 to 8 times. The two wires inside have plastic beads on them that slide up and down the wires. This brushes any bits of leftover dust or lint off of the wires. (Again, these wires must be VERY clean.) Seventh, replace the front and back plastic grilles by placing them in their slots and sliding them down to snap into place. Verify that the assembly with the three metal blades is COMPLETELY dry, using a hair dryer if necessary to dry off damp areas, then slide it back into place from the top of the machine. Now the cleaning process is done, so plug the unit in and turn it on to test operation. If it makes ANY noise, then some component is not completely cleaned off, or still has a presence of moisture, which must be completely dried off before the machine is ready for operation. Hope this helps! ;)

My Ionic pro platinum (TA750) won't stop "clicking". I have removed the filter and ran it through the dishwasher but the dam thing still clicks....help!

It is the Negative Ion Generator and also the static charge that traps small articles. It is perfectly normal for this type of filter. It also lets you know it is working.
