When I put in a disc the recorder says no disc.

No disc error can be a DIY like the following steps.

Assuming that the disc is good.

1.Cleaning the lens. - Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc.

Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.

2.Replacing the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser.

If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.

3.Checked the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.

Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin.

Bad motor - reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.

Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.

If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.

If you already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.

Thanks for using fixya.

What type of power cord is used for a cyberhome

Hello
There is nothing to look onto the power chord of any type of eletronic equipments. Choose a good quality one, with more strands inside its core, that is all. More the strands, the capability of the power chord increases. Look for a good wone which have enough flexiblility to its insulation. Usually MX is the better if you get. IK.

When a blank disc is inserted it attempts to load

OK you could try to use a cleaning DVD that may help.
If that doesn't work, then you have a faulty laser or quadrant detector in your laser assembly and the only way to fix it is to replace it.. it is also possible there are other problems too.
However i would doubt the economics of being able to do so. and any monies to be spent may well be put towards a new unit with a warranty?

When I try to formatting a Disc, and I have tried

Hello George Telfo

#1
Insert your ( memory card , flash disk , cellphone , .... ) into your computer.
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Where is the fuse

mcdevito75 here, Don:t know too much, but DVD players are similar in construction to VCRs, the fuse should be an inline fuse in the back or on the side of the DVD player under a screw down cap with a specific mark on it sort of like an S on the cover, simply un-plug your DVD palyer and un-screw this cap, the glass fuse with come right out. Hope this helps.

Can't get the door open to put in a DVD

If you look at the front panel of your CD player you will notice a very small hole. Using a VERY straight Paper Clip push in about 1/2 inch in this hole then pull the drawer out.
