JVC AV-56WP74 convergence board...add'l question

I am having the same problem with the red lines not aligning when doing the convergence procedure. When watching TV their is an awful red hue or shadow on the screen. This is the post that I have questions about: "Order online part # SSB-5068A. This is the ENTIRE convergence board with new IC's. Cost you about $140 (from vance baldwin.com) but is a lot less hassle than you trying to soldering/desoldering parts. Only thing is, next to the 2 large heat sinks, there is this large silver component that you need to unscrew from your old board, and unplug and attach to your new board." 1. The baldwin link... http://www.vancebaldwin.com/products/?SSB-5068A-M2-R&t=P * it has a different part number than the ssb-5068A, the link shows SSB-5068a-M2-R. Is this the same part? If not, I am not able to locate the part. 2. What does the convergence board look like behind the tv?

I just removed both of my 110 IC's and replaced them with 150's. However in the process of removing the solder from the old board, I may have damaged the pads/vias where the pins make contact. Be careful of this when removing solder. I also blew 5 resistors after plugging in the new IC's.

Green curved lines going across my t.v.

I have a JVC rear projection tv model AV56WP74. A couple of weeks ago all three colors went out of wack but I was able to align them again. Then a week later the green line at the top left habd corner curved down and I was not able to fix it. Now the convergence is all out on all three colors but especially the green which is curving. Is this expensive to fix or am I better off with a new t.v?

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

jvc i art pro doe not turn on

I have a jvc i art pro 56 inch projection tv and when i plug in the tv the tv makes a clicking like noise and the speakers make a popping noise and no picture displays and the green light just flashes. can anybody please assist me i can not afford another $450 for repairing my tv

The clicking sound is the TV trying to restart itself. It generally attempts this several times before giving up. The blinking code indicates the type of error (error codes are documented in the manual for the TV). The most likely cause is a burned out bulb, but could be something else.
If it is a bulb, it is usually replaceable without a service technician, and at a cost far less than $450.
Good luck.

There are a couple of common problems this model has--one is easy to confirm.

How handy are you if I tell you to disconnect the convergence board to see if it is your problem?

The blinking blue light means the set is in protective shutdown, and I know a fairly easy way to see if it is your problem and how to fix the set if it is.

Let me know if you need help--I am here to help people and l know a lot about this set.

what would cause my jvc tv have a green tint

what would cause my jvc tv have a green tint

It sounds like you can have optical engine issue. That's if green tint was show up very gradually, until one day it really caught your attention.Normally some parts of the screen more green than other. It should get progressively worse. To solve this issue optical engine have to be replaced. It is pretty expensive repair if your TV is out of the warranty.
In case if tint appeared suddenly in one moment - you can try to check component cable connection on the back of your TV if you are using one ( green, blue and red colored). Sometimes it's loose or after disconnection people reconnecting it in wrong way.
Experienced tech will determine if optical engine is bad by running test patterns in special service mode. If green tint present on Grey scale - optical engine is bad.
Sorry for bad news.
Regards.
Russ.
