See attached photos, this board is from a set just like yours. The two black ICs with the STK392-110 MARKED on the front of them will need to be replaced and the resistors in front of them inspected to see if any are burnt/discolored.

This is a fairly easy set to do this on, total parts cost on Ebay would be under 25 dollars.

The best way in this set is to remove the board, access will be from front of set.

I can tell you what is involved to get at the board and remove it. It does involve soldering as each of the two chips has 18 pins.

Look at the photos and let me know if you have questions or need advice.

Picture went out and the tv comes on but no

If it's failing to turn on, the main power supply is probably at fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core (no laminations as with a line-frequency part) transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.

Before touching anything inside, especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.

If you see signs of overheating such as discoloration of the board material, the PSU may not be repairable but if you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply from the mfr. and install it yourself but it will likely have the same problem eventually unless they have altered the design or improved component quality.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the main power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable of switching off if a downstream problem is causing an overload .

I am unsure which model

Hi,

From the information you have provided the problem is with the convergence. If you have gone into the menu and tried adjusting the focus/conversion after the TV has been on for an hour or more and the focus did not correct the problem the convergence ICs have failed and will need to be replaced along with a few defective resistors. If all the colors are incorrect a open fuse in the voltage supply to the amplifiers is possible. A TV repair company will normally charge about $350 for this repair if the ICs are the problem, less for the fuses. Small TV repair shops will normally charge less than large repair facilities. Convergence failure is a very common problem with this TV set. There could be other parts that are not within factory specs. The only way to be positive of the problem is to have the circuitry diagnosed by someone with the proper TV test equipment to determine what parts that are no longer within specs. A small TV repair shop will many times be less expensive than a large repair facility.

If you wish to repair it yourself and can solder, I will suggest that you to purchase a kit that has all the needed parts and detailed instructions for making the needed repair from :-

.When you get to the site using the link provided, choose TV repair kits, enter in the model number for your TV and select convergence repair kit.

I am sorry, you need to confirm the model number. There should be model number engrossed, might be back of the TV .

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

chrisiensen1,

You have most likely lost one or both of your convergence ICs. The ICs are not too hard to replace if you can use a soldering iron and are concientious. If you think that you are up to the task I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which explains the problem, walks you through the repair and has links to the best place to get parts at the best price.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

TV TURNED OFF WHILE WATCHING.

If you are talking about the blue power light I have a good idea and a way for you to find out.

See attached photos--they are of this set's CONVERGENCE output board--it is located behind the front grill and I can tell you how to get at it.

What I usually do in this case is get at the board and unplug selected plugs (it has 5 or 6 of them) and then turn set on.

Surprise? set comes on but looks terrible----it means a short on the Convergence board is causing the set to shut down.

Look at photos and tell me if I can help you.

Where can i get the

You do not need a diagram, I can tell you all that is involved--it entails getting the board with the parts out and replacing both chips and any bad resisters.

See attached photos: they are of the board that needs to be removed.

This is a easy set to get at the parts and they are soldered in, so you need to be able to solder etc.

Let me know and I will be happy to assist here.

IF the pictures or this information told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

When i turn my tv on i have no picture and i hear a beeping noise

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC and also check the power resistor, if values are not exact you have to replace them. These ICs are located behind the black heat sink; you can see once you open the back off the TV. The convergence board should be checked for cracked solder joints and please make sure to check the resistors as if they are shot the ICs might blow again. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please also make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour to drain off the current from all the components especially capacitors before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in off condition. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Does it have a built in tunner?

It has an NTSC (analog) tuner. You'll need a digital to analog converter to watch most stations. Low power stations are still available in analog in some areas.

I hope this helps.
