The photosensitive drum needs to be cleaned or replaced. If after cleaning it the vertical line continues, the printer may need maintenance.

Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner(cartridge) There should be a paperjam in the machine. It reads back cover open because the piece of paper is covering the sensor for the back cover.

Check if CD contains XP drivers. Unistall the software and then use drivers from link :

firest you swithc off all the printers and wait for some minute then clear all printers queue by going in to printer folder then restart your system.

B2 error = scanner or power supply error
Brother 950/980: On copy or transmit they may produce black pages. Prone to bad scanner (CCD). Brother may provide a replacement CCD at no charge to the original owner. Sometimes leaving the unit unplugged for a few hours will solve the problem temporarily.
Brother HL600 series laser printer toner will work in the laser fax & multifunction machines (part number TN100HL = TN100PPF). Drum units may be interchangeable as well (?).
Brother 1350/1550/1950: Problem: Record paper jams. Solution: Replace upper shoot. P/N UF6058001. Although there seems to be nothing causing the jam, the upper shoot gets stress marks on the ends. Replace even though it is not broken.
Thermal Transfer Machines: Only one side of the page is printing. Caused by the printhead latch being cracked. The latch is blue in color there is one on each side of the printhead, replace both latches

2, replace drum cartridge.

This one made me crazy, but I finally figured it out. Turn the machine around so that you are facing the back. Open the back cover. Pull down the second smaller roller cover inside the machine. If you look closely at the second smaller cover, on the right hand side (closer the the inside of the machine), is a very thin round piece of plastic that is only half the length of the smaller cover. There are 2 thin plastic tabs attached to either end of this round piece of plastic. Gently shift this over so that the 2 plastic tabs can now go into the space provided for them. I had to move mine over only 1/4 inch.

On the left side of your toner there is a half circle with a small plastic inside. use a screwdriver and rotate it 90 degrees anticlockwise

If it still prints ignore it. if you rather call the vendor. Ifyou're under warranty. They may replace or repair it.

It sounds like the corona wire may be dirty. Its a wire that self-charges to attract toner to the paper. Read your manual and see if it mentions print quality problems. If you decide to check inside this device, please disconnect the power cord.
