As mentioned, I have got to the bottom of this without Onkyo's help. I replaced the offending component, which is a 5.5V 0.1F backup capacitor. This is mounted on the front PCB, just below the right hand side of the display. It is a right pain to get to. Here briefly is what to do:
1: Unplug (really important!), remove top cover.
2: Undo three screws underneath front panel edge, pull off volume and tone knobs, and gently pull off metal front panel from the bottom, which is held with sticky tape inside.
3: Undo five screws from plastic front panel and free it. You will now have limited access to the front panel PCB and audio processor PCB.
4: Cut a few black cable ties as required to gain better access to front PCBs, and unplug ribbon cable from right hand side. It may be helpful to undo the nut and so release the volume control encoder.
5: Still struggling with poor access, release the standoffs from the audio processor PCB and unplug its ribbon cable. You have to remove the audio processor PCB in order to get to the screws under it. You may want to remove the PCB for holding the mains switch.
6: Now with some kind of access to the whole of the front panel PCB, undo 10,000 screws which secure it to the black plastic front panel.
7: Now with limited access to the front side of the front panel PCB, locate the capacitor, towards the right hand side of the display, just beneath it. Note the polarity; the negative terminal goes to the left/top pcb land, positive to the bottom/right. Desolder and replace this component. HINT: Make life easier for next time and mount the new part on the REAR of the PCB, so now negative will be down. Care with polarity!
8: Reassemble carefully. Make sure that the volume control encoder metal clasps are tight as they come apart easily. Fit new cable ties in original locations (important to prevent hum pickup).

The parts you will require then are about 6 nylon cable ties, and a 0.1F 5.5V capacitor. I had to make do with a 0.047F part because it was all I had to hand and I didn't want the machine in bits while I ordered one. Many of these components today are radial PCB mounting, which are not an ideal fit but could be used at a push. If you can get a vertically mounted one, that would be better. The nearest I can readily find is from RS Components item 377-350 (Panasonic EECS0HD104V), and the leads on this could doubtless be re-jigged to fit.

Hold the VCR/DVR button in and press the ON/OFF Standby button. The display should briefly read CLEAR and then the unit switches off. If that clears protect mode, you'll need to redo the Audyssey and configuration setup as these will have been cleared by the reset.

Replace the IR receiver diode on the front panel. Try HERO HIM602H from farnell.com, i used that one for my TX-DS 777. (i guess 575 using same stuff)

Hello Jerry, This means that the unit is going into protection mode. The unit will only go into protection mode for 2 reasons. The first reason would be if there is a short within the unit itself. The second reason would be if one of the speaker connections is causing a short. To isolate which of the two is the issue, you would first turn the unit off and unplug all of the speakers. Turn the unit back on with no speakers connected and raise the volume up. If the unit turns off with no speakers connected then we know that the issue is internal and would have to go in for repair. If the unit stays on, that will tell us that one or more of the speaker connections was causing the issue. If that is the case I would check all of your speaker connections and possibly start with fresh copper connections. Thanks, FJD

Voice tracks are usually routed to the center channel. You don't mention having a center channel speaker hooked up. If this is the case, then you need to go into the receivers setup menu and set it for no center. This will reroute the voice tracks to your front speakers.

You have to raplace IR sensor PIC-26043TE2 or similar and should help.

use the optical port (toslink cable needed)little square with flap will be lit red or use rca cables red and white audio out fron tv to any port on reciver(aux,cd,dvd,ect) the reciver will have to be turned to this for the surrond to be heard

Had it ever worked, or are you setting it up for the first time?
Have you ASSIGNED the digital input in the menu?

Only the one channel buzzes? Did you check the cable of the speaker is it properly rolled?

Amazon.com, MyRemoteControls.com, and Remotes.com all sell a replacement remote for the TX-DS575. I have also seen the Onkyo TS-DS575 receiver with remote listed on eBay for as low as $35. Keep looking; the remotes are out there.

I have a Onkyo receiver, I had the same problem. I took it to a repair shop and they found there was a poorly soldered connection on a circuit board. They re-soldered it correctly and it works fine now. I would not have been able to find this myself. Just sharing my experience, your problem may or may not be related. You may need to take this to a repair shop, if it is really circuit board related like mine was, it is not something the average person has the training to find and repair.

Purchase a customizable universal remote or a Logitech Harmony remote.
