On HP 6500 printers, remove screen and try heating the connection elemants with hair dryer or something similar. Nothing to hot. The led bars should restore. Here's a link on how to remove HP 6500. Do same for 6500A model, but screen is a bit different, so check out the other video for HP 6500A and 6500A plus printers: HP 6500:
New ink only prints pink and black?
Try soaking printhead in the cleaning solution and it will resolve the issue. Check out the video on how to repmve printhead below. Put it in about half inch of solution which is 50% water, 40% window clening solution like windex, and some ammonia or rubbing alcohol.
How do I tell ink levels
If you have Windows 7 you can check this by clicking on the "Start" button at the bottom of the screen, click on the "HP" folder and click on "HP Solutions Center". A graft will come up showing you the printer cartridges levels. Click on the small graft chart at the top right of the screen and the graft will enlage and show you exactly the staus of the ink levels. Click "Print" at the bottom of the screen and it'll run a print test. All 4 cartridges need to be above the "Low" level. It only takes one of them to mess up the print.
Hto increase print size
You have to change print size by choosing a larger font in the software you used to produce the document.
LOW INK MESSAGE AFTER A REFILLED CARTRIDGE
cartridges have chips, you need a cartridge with a special chip that resets each time. These can be bought on ebay or amazon. You cant refill factory cartridges with oem chips.
Not printing the entire page. Approximately one quarter of the page not printing, across ways.
I would listen to the response to Geraldine Watts by Handyman
back in 2007. Not printing sounds like dirty heads that can be
lightly wiped by just a water damped qtip. This helped me at one
time. Black vertical lines are fixed by pulling plugs for a couple of
minutes (resets machine). It could also be a bad cartridge but I
doubt it. I would never waste money on buying parts because
the new printers to purchase are cheap enough.
My 6500 broke when I pulled out several pieces of paper and then got an ink failure error. No fix for this. I then bought the 7520.
photosmart and I am glad my 6500 broke.
I bought direct this time from HP at $149 (hp matched a best buy sale) as well as buying their warranty for $34 that covers next day replacement and any phone questions I might have for 3 years.
I love hp photosmarts only because they are the 'king' on photo
quality but I hate the reps charging if you are out of warranty.
If HP offered help to those out of warranty they would then have no
competition in the printer world. I buy my inks from local stores like staples. Good luck with your machine.
Ink system failed
Not sure exactlly what you mean but you may want to check the ink and the printer heads by doing the following checks: More than likely your running out of ink. Check the ink levels first. If you've got plenty of ink try cleaning the printer head by:Click "Setup" (just below and left of the LED screen) on the printer.Scroll the Led screen to "6. Tools". Hit "OK"Now scroll to "2. Clean printhead". Hit "OK".This should do it..
