Agitator: bottom moves, top does not

If the bottom agitates and not the top, the problem is likely the 4 "agitator dogs" designed to allow the top agitator to turn only one way.

On the Sears parts site:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.26902691&pop=flush

replace the 110.26902691 with your model number (lift the lid and the model number should be printed on the cabinet) and look at the section on the Sears site for Agitator, basket and tub.

This is what they look like:

pd_26_110_80040?$pddetailsth$ #21 on diagram Dog, agitator (4) Number:3366877Substitution:80040 $9.25Remove the fabric softener unit, lift the top agitator cap (use a screwdriver) and you should see a plastic part in the center of the top agitator with a 1/2" square drive.

Remove the drive and lift off the top agitator. Turning it over you should see the 4 "dogs", replace these and the top agitator should turn in one direction only.

Replace the 1/2" drive, the cap and fabric softener unit and the top agitator should work.

Brass cotter pins an plastic catch tubes???? Kenmore washer 110.92597210

This is an easy one to solve. Those are moving pins , when in transport. When it is delivered, the delivery people simply just pull on some straps and the pins fall in the cup. You need to keep these when moving washer to put back in, so not to damage anything.

My washing machine was tripping circuit breaker. I

Hi, I think the trip going is an electrical fault, DO NOT BYPASS IT, but, with power OFF AND UNPLUGED, meter both power wires to earth, (chassies) you should not get any readings. If it happens at the same point in cycle, that might narrow down the fault, i.e, every time the machiene pump emptys, its the pump/wire to it. Any doubt, get it sorted by a reliable tech guy, and good luck finding one of those!!

HOW DO YU GET THE SPNNER NUT KENMORE 90 SERIES WASHER?

You'll really will need the spanner wrench for the spanner nut on the basket drive block. If you try to make a tool or use some other method, you risk injury and possibly damaging your washer basket. The spanner wrench is made by Supco, part #TB123A. It has various other part numbers from the appliance manufacturers. It is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, and Kenmore. Most Kenmores are made by Whirlpool. If you want the wrench same day, call local appliance shops and ask if they sell the spanner for the Kenmore Series 90. I got mine from a local shop and paid $13. You could also buy one on eBay or another reasonable online source. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313&_nkw=tb123a&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Or Google search: TB123A Don't pay more than $20 including shipping. You can always sell it on eBay once you are done with it. It won't lose much value being used since it doesn't really wear out. You'll need a hammer too, preferably with a hard rubber head, or use a wooden mallet. If you use a steel hammer, be careful when you strike the spanner wrench to loosen the spanner nut. Wrap the steel hammer head in an old washcloth or rag. You don't want to accidentally strike the porcelain enamel lining of the basket - it will chip and that can lead to rust of the metal.

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......

I need to replace the timer on a series 800 washer

Fix the timer on the washer so that it fills with the correct amount of water, and so there is the correct amount of time for each cycle. Make sure the washer is unplugged and take off the control knobs and the panel that lays over the knobs. The knobs could be either at the front or back of the machine. Check the wires that link the timer to other areas of the washer. If they are slack, push them further into place with pliers.

Change the timer by disconnecting the old one. Make sure the new timer is made for the brand of washer that you own. Unhook the wires to the old timer one at a time and connect each wire to the new timer.
