How do i replace the drive belt
If you tip the washer back, you should be able to see the drive belt on the bottom of the machine. Chances are, the belt broke and didn't just fall off. I would suggest taking the old belt (which you'll find there on the floor) to an appliance store and have them match it up with a new one. Installation is fairly straight forward. It will go around the motor, transmission pulley, the water pump, and a tensioner (if equipped.) I hope this helps! :)

Where is the fuse in the fill valve circuit located
This is a step by step procedure for checking out the fill valve. You should be able to access it by removing the control deck on top, Make sure to unplug the machine before poking around inside.

Starts to spin then stops and sounds like it shuts off
You are probably overloading it. When it stops just open it, take some clothes out and rearrange the clothes in the washer so that they are as evenly spread as possible. Close the lid back. It should cycle on again. If it does not, repeat the same procedure. When the weight/ bulk of the clothes is small enough for the machine to handle it should then complete the cycle/wash.

Washer fills/agitates and stops prior to draining
If pump works fine or still pumps out water, then it is a timer malfunction. Replace the timer and you should be fine. To locate a part number for your timer, refer to www3.sears.com with the model number off your washer.

I have a kenmore 700 series top-loader washing
The burnt plastic smell is probably the belt that drives the agitator. There may be something stuck (wrapped) around the shaft under the agitator that tightens the gears so the belt just slips and heats up. Remove the agitator and make sure the shaft is clear. also if it is belt and gear driven, check the gears. This means removing a panel or turning the unit sideways to inspect from below. The hum is the motor either not turning or turning with the belt too tight.Hope this helps...

Spin cycle doesn't work
I don't know if this applies AT ALL, but if it does, then it would be an easy fix. If your washer isn't like mine was, then just ignore the following:
Start by popping the cap on the spindle inside the drum, it just has a plastic cap that pops off. With that cap off you can try turning the little doodad inside one way and then the other, and it should "ratchet," catching and making the spindle turn when you turn it one way, but freely spinning the other way. IF it freely spins BOTH ways, the pawl dogs are worn. This is what was wrong with mine, and the pawl dogs are cheap and easy to replace. To get to the pawl dogs themselves you would just need to loosen one bolt head under that cap, and lift the assembly out, and then the pawl dogs are on that assembly.
