Sorry to say but it sounds like your power supply is bad, although it is possible it is some other components in the TV because turning it off allows all diodes etc to power down completely. Unfortunately after a bit it happens again which leads me to believe again power trouble.

Sounds like a T'Con [Timing Control] board fault. In most Sony LCDs, this board will be built inside the display panel.
