How many jelly beans are in a jar thats 23 inches around and 17 inches high?

V = (pi)(r square)(h) V= Volume (the amount we need to calculate) pi = 3.14... r = radius of cylinder (remember this is half that of the circumference) h = height of cylinder To make it easier for you below are the figures for the Cylinder. Radius= 11.5 inches Height = 17 inches. Now use the formula above to calculate it. For the Jelly Bean its, Radius = 0.25 inches Height = 0.5 Use the same formula above for jelly bean as well. Once you have both figures, divide Volume of Jar by Volume of Jelly e.g. VolumeofJar/VolumeofJelly AND VOILA, you have the amount of jelly beans in a jar (Round the figure out) Cheers!

How do i get my alpha key work

The TI-84 is a bit of a pain this way. You need to access the logBASE function either through the catalog or the MATH menu. You can't spell the function name as with some other calculators. Press MATH, scroll down to the logBASE entry, then press ENTER. This will put "logBASE(" into the entry line. You can then enter the arguments and press ENTER to calculate the result. For example, to calculate the log base 2 of 8, press MATH, down-arrow a number of times to logBASE, press ENTER 8 , 2 ENTER. This should give you 3.

All answers are in scientific notation

I am just going to be frank here, you have to do the math. Move the decimal over a couple spaces and you will be fine. You can post back if you need to know how to convert it. Th ti-84 can't do everything. You need the ti 89 to do more advance things, which I don't think you need.

I need to know how to convert 11390cm cubed into

Your calculator may or may not have a program for unit conversion, but the best method is to understand the metric system so you can do these conversions without a calculator. A meter is the same as 100 centimeters, so divide 11390 by 100 to get 113.90 m^3.

Rather than relying on a calculator, I highly recommend taking the time to practice metric conversions. It is very common for high school and even college professors to try and trick you by, for example, requesting the answer in centimeters when the question is in meters.
