I just left the TV off and it must have reset itself. It did it twice. First time it was OK after half an hour. Second time it was nearer an hour.

check the sound setting on the sky box go to setting, then sound. audio out stereodigital audio out optical (dolby D)digital audio output hdmi (normal)digital audio output delay (0ms)this is how the settings should be digital out put hdmi only works with full HD 3D tvs.

The LCD backlight is faulty. it may be due to bad capacitors or a faulty inverter controller. Bad capacitors can be easily replaced. A faulty inverter controller is a bit more tricky but it can also be replaced.

Most likely you have a short on the front side of your power supply. You will either need to have it repaired or replaced!

you have no back light , the invertor pcb may be faulty or worse still the screen may have failed.
This needs a service engineer to diagnose properly
