SETTINGS ? OPTION ? Caption View captions when the TV station provides captioned programing. Program captions work only on digital/analog broadcasts or external input. Change Caption to On or OFF. If On, then select caption settings. • Mode CC 1-4 (Closed Captioning) / Text 1-4 : Displays the audio portion of a TV program as text on the TV screen. CC1 is the most common mode in use. Field 1 data channels: two Captions (CC1, CC2), two Text (T1, T2). Field 2 data channels: two Captions (CC3, CC4), two Text (T3, T4). Service 1-6 : This is only available for the digital broadcasting system.

That is most likely a bad diode in the power supply. It will require repair but it should be reasonable. There are youtube videos showing the repair if you are handy.

It sounds like main board fault. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. It can't be done. The DVD remote will be single frequency for that device only and the LG remote for that LG Blu Ray (or series) only. Companies don't make cross-control between makers easy. The only exception is cable and satellite boxes to allow their remote to also control the television.

That will show in your network settings on the tv screen under manual entry network, or automatic entry try both and then write them down when it shows them.
There may be a backlight issue. Some of the LEDs may have failed causing the LED to stop working at the correct voltage. This will tell the main power supply to switch off as there is a problem.
I would ask LG support.
