the thermal coupler is bad. That is the piece by the pilot that has a copper line that goes to the gas valve. replace that and it should be fine. hope this helps. have a good day.

If this aluminum tube has nuts on each end, I would bet that if you called your local plumbing supply house & described the part, they would have one in stock. Do you feel capable of removing the part?

I have a dyna glo 30000-50000 btu propane heater,

Hi,
It may be possible, but I have never seen a conversion kit for them.
Also given that the only thing of value in one of those is the gas valve it is probably much more cost effective to just sell the one and buy the other...the difference would be the cost of the conversion kit and you have no labor involved except removal and re-installation...and that takes all of a few minutes...

Hi,dyno glo heater.as long as i hold the pilot in

The thermocouple from the burner flame port to the gas valve is bad. Shut your gas supply off, unscrew the small fitting with the small copper tubing coming out of the gas valve. Follow that tubing up to the burner and disassemble the pilot light end from the burner. Home Depot has a good selection normally or you may want to go to a furnace supply. It shouldn't be more than 10 or 15 dollars for the new one. Reinstall, turn the gas back on and make any adjustments to flame location at the burner.

When I put a match to the pilot it acts like it is

This could be the case if you haven't used the heater for a while. You will need to close the main valve then unscrew the connection to the heater and open the valve for a few seconds till you smell gas. Close the valve and tighten the gas connection again. Leave it to air out for fifteen munites or so and try lighting again. Be sure to let the area air out as gas will explode.
