SATA 1 and 2 HDD nor operational?

the C drive ( sata 1) holds all of the operating systems and programs , files and folders and data when you open up computer above the control panel you will see a list of all of the drives in the computer ie C drive g drive h drive etc everything is stored in c drive but if you want extra storage capacity when you want to save something click on save as and select the drive that it is to save on for example you write a document and you want to save it go save as give it a name and then on the left hand column you will see a list of places to save it to so high light drive g and it will go there another way is to open up the folder where something is and simply click and drag it to the drive you want example in photos ( in the photos section) you select a photo and click and drag that photo to drive d etc another way is to click and drag that drive to the desktop and from there click and drag all files to that icon

Hi can any one help me please

Leave it alone. Reflashing a bios is serious business and never, never guaranteed. Very often the process does not work or goes bad and then you wind up with a piece of junk due to a corrupted bios.

Bios setup does not show

Hi,
I have had problems like this many times with some of my IBM machines. What i find most often the reason the bios will not recognize them is because the hard drive has gone bad.
Troubleshooting 1. Unplug power cable from computer before doing anything inside of the computer. Unplug sata cable from motherboard and hard drive. Unplug power cable from hard drive.
Plug the sata cable back into the motherboard and into the hard drive. Plug the power cable back into the hard drive. Plug the power cable back into the computer.
Boot computer and enter bios(by pressing F8, Enter, Del ect..) Does the hard drive show in there now?
2. If you have another hard drive.
Unplug power cable from computer before doing anything inside of the computer. Unplug sata cable from hard drive. Unplug power cable from hard drive.
Plug the sata cable into the second hard drive. Plug the power cable into the second hard drive. Plug the power cable back into the computer.
Boot up the computer and enter the bios. Does this hard drive show in the bios? If so then i would say that your original hard drive has gone bad.

Our Dell Dimension 2400 had

If you go to dell support page, you can enter the service tag for you computer and it will take you to a page that has all the drivers for your model computer. The service tag number will be on a sticker on your computer. Usually on the left side. Download and install the drivers for your network card. It's also a good idea to update all your drivers with the most recent.

When i boot up the computer it starts beeping

The beeps are part of the boot sequence, more normally called the post report. The beeps length and number usually indicate a problem.

Check with the abit website, you need the post sequence for your motherboard.

Usually, with a post report, you get a single beep which means everything is tickety boo.

Abit av8 doesn't complete post

Read below, but bottom line, it is either one of your RAM DIMMs or your power supply. You need to use trial and error, but trust me, I would bet the farm that it is a bad piece of RAM....
The VIA chipset does not like 4 sticks of memory.
Remove all them and then install one stick into slot one.
Remove the video card and reinstall it making sure it is all the way into the slot.
Be sure you attach the power supply lead to the video card.
Remove all PCI cards, and power on the system.
Does the system post and boot like normal?

If it does post and boot like it should, install another stick of memory into slot two.
Retest to see if the system boots like it should.
If you think you must have more than 1 gb of memory.
I would recommend you get two sticks of 1gb each.

If the system does not post and boot like it should.
You may have defective memory, or memory that is not compatable with the AV8.

Dear Support

I don't think that you need a bios upgrade for a 'virus' infection - they generally don't go there, as modifications to the flash memory can be tricky and difficult without knowing the flash type; viruses generally affect OS areas as being much easier.

New motherboard makes my wireless nic loose signal.

It sounds like a driver issue.
I assume you mean the card worked previously on an old motherboard.
Remove the wireless NIC driver and then re-install it. I assume their are no yellow exclamation marks agianst your NIC in windows system properties? To see sys properties right-click "My Computer" select Properties/Hardware/Device Manager. Look for the network adaptors section. You can update drivers from here on your wirless card or even try the Troubleshooter tab.
if you don't have the driver CD let windows go onto the internet and search for a driver.
If you rely on the wireless card to connect to your internet connection, perhaps you can connect your computer to the internet modem or router via your computers LAN/network connection?
If that's not possible, download the driver from the NIC cards manufacturer website and pop it onto a USB thumb drive which can then be installed onto your new computer.
Last thought, make sure you are only using one controlling application for your NIC ie you use either the Windows Zero Config Utility OR the NIC cards manufacturer utily eg D-Link, Netcomm, etc etc
That is not both at once as windows has a major hissy fit.

Computer is dead

Most of the time it's power supply failure.

1.A lot of computer owners fail to clean the inside of their computer, plus the power supply out, on a regular basis. I find this occurrence at my shop quite a lot.
Unplugging the computer from power, observing anti-static guidelines, and using a can of compressed air for computers would have prevented this.

Power supply's have a fan for cooling, as well as heatsink's inside. When these components collect dirt, dust, hair, and other foreign objects, the cooling capacity drops tremendously.
Heat = Wasted Energy
The power supply struggles to keep up with the demand of power needed, and eventually components inside it fail.

2.Most power supply's installed in a pre-built computer, are of a low grade of quality. (MOST. Generally pre-built computers manufactured in the last two years, have upgraded the quality of their power supply's, but not all of them)

Saves the computer manufacturer money. These power supply's have low quality components. Gauge of wire used is smaller than it should be, Electrolytic Capacitors are of an inferior grade, transformers are cheaply made, and the rectifier bridge is cheaply constructed, are a few examples.

3.Computers that are built by the owner, and are not pre-built, may have a cheap, or underrated power supply installed. You really have to check out reviews for power supply's on the internet, to see what quality it has. However there are some websites, that 'pump up' the review to stay in good standing with the power supply manufacturer. Generally, if the power supply price is cheap, so is the quality.

There are two other things to look at.
It may be the Power On switch that is behind the Power On button. These can go out.

It could be the motherboard. Most of the time it is Electrolytic Capacitors that are the 'weakest link'. Specifically the one's that surround the processor. These 'Caps' are Voltage Regulators for the processor. If even One is bad, the processor will not work.
No processor, No computer.

How to know if it's the power supply? Use a known, good, and compatible power supply for a test. [Compatible being that the power supply has the required power cables for the motherboard, and enough Wattage]

How to know if there are bad Electrolytic Capacitors on the motherboard?
This website has information, plus photos of bad capacitors,
