Unfortunately the lid has been discontinued and is no longer in production. Neither is the bowl :(

Check that the safety lock pin is releasing from the base. It is the thing in the tube down the side of the bowl that the lug on the lid engages with. It stops the motor running with the lid off..https://www.google.com/search?q=Kitchen+Aid+food+processor+bowl+stuck..

I have the 11 cup Kitchenaid food processor and did the same thing this weekend. It took a while but finally figured out how it went back together. Hopefully the pictures help. I know it's difficult to see since the pieces are all black. Good luck!

Could be a failing motor

I got the lid off by using a turkey-skewer (i.e., a long pin) to push down on the long white plastic piece, in the handle, just above the spring. When you push it down far enough, you can twist the cover back over to the proper side. (We think we created this situation ourselves by mistakenly twisting the cover into place clockwise, rather than counter-clockwise.)

Make sure you have the bowl, lid and sometimes the pusher assembled correctly. If everything is not correct it will not activate the safety switch to allow it to start up.

take it back and get a warranty replacement unit reading the user manual may be a help

Possibly something about either the lid or the bowl has become deformed. Very likely you will need to replace one or the other.
