Krups Orchestro 889 Espresso Machine Questions & Answers
WATER NOT FLOWING TO COFFEE
You might have a broken seal on the brewing unit. There is an O ring on the tamping part that often gets broken with wear. Best to carefully run it with the covers off to determine exactly where the leak is. Parts may be a problem for this model, a lot of bits & pieces are obsolete now. The O ring will be available aftermarket anyway, I've got plenty here in New Zealand.
No water flow
The hot water works, but when I run coffee, the water only goes into the used BIN, NOT the spouts. I can't get the water to go through to brew the coffee..
HELP
Krups 889 red & green lights alternate flashing and machine will not do anything else. how can I get it out of this mode?
I have the same machine and the spent coffee tray wasn't going in and after cycling with pressing three times then clicking three times all the lights would cycle between red and green and the machine would do nothing. It turned out to be a jammed eject motion of spent coffee. the coffee was pressed in but wouldn't eject into the coffee tray so the flap wouldn't go all the way up making the tray not go in. I took the back of the machine off and used a screw driver to "help the unit up during the cycle". When the machine would screw down and PRESS I'd not do anything but as soon as it would screw up I would lever my screw driver and HELP it up....after two or three attempts it screwed all the way up and ejected the coffee and now it seems fine.
Burn capacitor
There are many capacitors in that machine, where is it?
I have a Krups Orchestro
I had the same problem with my Krups Orchestro and today picked it up from service. There was nothing wrong except the internal filter was blocked and a manual clean by the technician fixed it. I think I exacerbated the problem by going to the finest grind over time the amount of liquid to the cup got less and less till it stopped.
Now I am using a courser grind - hopefully this will delay the onset of the problem. I was going to try a clean myself - but was deterred by the security oval head screws on the back. The repair centre told me they thought the Krups machine was a great product - and that I should expect many more years. It is essential though to perform maintenance (clean especially) as soon as prompted.
Good luck!
Water liquid on base
It could also be that the rubber rings need replacing. You can do it yourself if you have the guts to try it. There's a nice walkthrough on http://www.pioevogel.com/krups
