Hello there, the second hand on all watches dont reset with function buttons. Just the same way you cannot set the second hand when trying to adjust the time on your wristwatch. If you notice when you try to set the time on any watch the second hand does not move with the other hands as they are always made to function with the engine and reset does not affect them. If you want the second hand on the 12 o clock position allow it rotate to that position and pull out the crown. Then you can reset the minute and hour hands.

When was the last time you had the battery changed? Average watch will get 2-3 years battery life, depending on age and condition of watch.

Unscrew the crown like you are setting the time. Make sure the time shown on the watch is not around 12 o'clock. If it is change the time to around 6 o'clock.

Then pull the crown out to the first click. Turn the crown to advance the date. When finished push the crown back in and screw it down tight.

Yes, sometimes even Swiss made watch can have a fault. Fortunately you have bought this watch in February and it is still under warranty. Bring it back to the dealer you bought it from and ask to rectify the problem. They will do it at no cost to you.
Without dismantling the watch I can not say what exactly is wrong, but those things happen quite often. This is why the watchmakers trade still alive :))

You probably have a screw down crown. Turn the crown counterclockwise and unscrew the crown. Now you should be able to pull it out. When tightening it back down, don't over tighten, just snug. This is to keep moisture out of your watch. Always have it screwed down unless you are setting the watch.

why not just take to a watch/jewellery store and get battery changed

Tags once were often on the fake market but this watch should be real. A watch repair shop can open the case and tell you quickly. Its about a $1500 watch new.

You have selected a wonderful watch... Heuer and TAG/Heuer should be gently wound by the motion of the human wrist and the falling of a centrally pivoting weight (there is no ideal direction). AUTO-WIND function is NOT at all unique to your watch... After a couple of CHEAPER "winders" failed me... and after I figured about 4 watches was more than enough to keep wound... I found the greatest BASIC watch winder... to run year over year (efficiently and quietly) MTE watch winder (their very basic WTS-4).
