Hello I am having problems with my 2004 kawasaki kx 250f. The biggest problem of it all is that I am afraid of running the bike because I do not want to blow a head gasket. When started up the bike backfires and pops it also seems to be running a bit lean. It may not be lean I am not sure I just purchased the bike recently. Also it is extremely hard to start up the bike. It will literally take about 20 kicks on the kick start to get it started and then when it dies even though the engine is already hot it is just as hard to get it started up again. Please help me out. Where should I start. Also spark plug has been replaced along with the pilot jet. Thank you so much for your help.

Starting problems on your bike are usually related to twisting the throttle too often. Remember, the carb has a diaphragm pump in it that gives a shot of gas each time the throttle is twisted. That means the engine can flood quickly if you get happy on the gas. Gently use the kickstart lever to ease the piston just past top center on the compression stroke. Now give a good strong kick. Repeat as needed.

Well I just bought a kawasaki kx 250f it is very hard to start runs fine after it is running but once it shuts off hard to start also it is tough to find neutral

i had a similar problem with mine starting and re starting hard. my problem was the vavle clerance on the exhaust side. the vavle was so tight it took me 20 minutes or more to start it. once it fires ran fine, a littel hotter than usal. i check the vavles for the proper clearance i adjusted them to manufacture settings put a new plug in and vroom started in less than 5 kicks. also check the acc pump diphram they tend to dissolve with age and use one they got bad or get thin the bike will not run right. once you have checked all of this also change the pluge, always helps to have a fresh plug.

hope that gets you started any more qustions let me know

Have a kawasaki 250f with a bent front fork, what other years or brands will fit.

Depending how badly they are bent, it may be straightened. By using a press it is possible to straighten the forks if they are not too badly bent. I have done this in the past... It's not easy!

I have a 2005 kx 250f backfire and no start

Chances are when the OHC was installed it was one tooth off on the timing. You have spark and gas and the bike is a single cylinder so that is what I would check. Slack in the chain tensioner is what usually creates the problem. All slack should be at the back side of the cylinder.

My 2004 kx 250f often starts with one kick when cold but after that even after 1-10 minutes idling if it needs to be started again it will take 15-25 kicks..

Dont twist the throttle at all when starting the warm/hot engine. The carb has a diaphragm fuel pump that gives a shot of gas each time you crack the throttle open. It is very easy to flood the bike.

I am looking to purchase a 2007 kawasaki kx250f

Just call your local Kawasaki dealer, or any Kawasaki dealer, and give them the VIN number and they can look it up and tell you EXACTLY what the bike is. If you call a local dealer they may know the current owner and the bike's history.

Simple thing but easy to overlook. Could I get a 4 diamond rating for this solution? I am 3 short of 100 correct answers. Thanks!
