If it dies when being put in gear, it could very well be the safety wire on your kickstand. check and make sure the stand is up all the way

SOURCE: 94 suzuki 800 intruder. clutch splips in

No adjusting is possible.
Slip can be caused by several defaults:
- Wrong engine oil ( SAE 10w-40 API SE or SF only )
- Weak clutch springs ( free spring length : 34mm ( 1.34in ) MINIMUM
- Worn clutch disk 2(internal teeths ) ( wear limit 3.15mm ( 0.124in ) ) This is the last disk, against the clutch center
- Worn clutch disks 1 (internal teeths) ( wear limit 2.62mm ( 0.103in ) )
- Clutch plates ( thikcness between 1.55 and 1.65mm / 0.0610 and 0.0649 inches
- Damaged pressure plate ( cracks round the spring holes )

To check the clutch parts, the right engine cover must be removed.
Take attention while loosening the clutch spring bolts!
Drain engine oil, and set engine into first gear ( this locks the clutch for an easy loosening of the spring bolts )

Hope it helps

First replace the clutch, clutch basket, and throw out bearing that has been destroyed, check the cable for damage and if you still have the same problem,Then check the kick stand switch.

SOURCE: i have a suzuki rm 125 1994 model when i pull the

Adjust the clutch cable to allow about 1/4" free play at the end of the clutch handle. Don't put the bike in gear until the rpms are near idle speed. The clutch is working fine if the bike does not lurch forward when going into gear at idle speed. Dirty, gritty oil in the gearbox can make the clutch grab. Consider changing oil if grabbing is the problem. The "crunch" you hear is the slider gear engaging into the driven gear. The higher the engine speed when being put into gear the louder the crunch. The slider gear engaging "dogs" can break. Crunching into gear is hard on the gears.

SOURCE: Engine Stalls when put in Gear, Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K3 (2003)

Most of the safety systems use a diode pack in the loom to stop clutch and side stand switch etc from back feeding each other. Maybe this has failed. If not could it be in the loom, a broken or shorted wire. Look for a tight bend in the route the loom runs and external damage to the tape.

When I put in gear it dies out

Many times , when a Bike sits a long while all the oil presses out of the Clutches. Then the Clutch plates get a suction to each other. so it acts like the clutch is engaged.
any times you do not have to take the 'mouse nest apart. You can hole the Handbrake tight hold in the clutch. Start bike, rev it a little and bang it into first gear . If it stalls the bike, do it again. Also you can try Tying the Clutch lever down all night. that may let the clutches separate

I crashed my bike on the clutch side and now it still gets power to the lights but wont start

if you mean the bike went down on its left side ie the clutch lever side then i would check the safety switch on the clutch lever this has most likely been damaged.

What is the correct neele clip groove on a 1992 vx 800? Vin V551B104280 Eng No 104344. Many thanks Bill Marsh

Put the clip in the middle. If the bike tends to show a hesitation when starting out from a stop. move the clip lower. This provides fuel sooner at the low rpm. Move the clip higher if the bike is running rich.
