On my 1989 kawasaki Ninja gpx 750 r The battery will stay charged for about two weeks and then when you are riding it the battery will die and then nothing won't start. you can hear the alternator belt squealing and possibly smell it burning why is my battery not being charged by the alternator??
it is a easy job but getting the tool to adjust the alternator belt is the trouble i been looking for one for ages and end up putting it in a shop to get done .it cost me 70 quid including the replacement belt .which i think is a good priceit is a easy job but getting the tool to adjust the alternator belt is the trouble i been looking for one for ages and end up putting it in a shop to get done .it cost me 70 quid including the replacement belt .which i think is a good price

sounds like a short..any systems failing like headlight not working or something else?...i strongly suspect the alternator if there are no other issues with the wiwring being shorted..
Best you can find. Rock Oil if you can. Stay away from the old Magnatek etc etc as I found them to be no better than the 15 quid cheaper Rock Oil. (Slick50 my ninja too! Old thing. )
you didnt mention anything to do with the carbs so try some "Sea foam".... purchase at Autozone ($10) pour 1/3 can to two gallons fuel and drive it around for a good 10 to 15 miles and get on it once in awhile, ride safe..if the carbs are dirty or clogged... they wont be after your ride..there might be a little hesitation your first couple of miles till it starts to work..it took my bike 10 miles before it cleared out..bump start your bike if you have to to get it going and keep it going till it clears up.
hi,most *** bikes with a good regulater should put out between 13.2 and 14.8-15.2 volts, any more than that and the regulater will be faulty and cook the battery...cheers
dear daniel first thing to do is to test your battery make sure it isup to stuff. second you must find out if your alternator is puting out. you must find the rectifier it looks like a air cooled small box. it is ususually exposed to the air for cooling. you must find the alt output wire leading to this box and test it with a volt meter it should red 12.4-12.7 this will tell you your alt is fine and your rect is at fault. be sure to check the easy stuff first like fuses, dirty batt posts ect.
