Timing marks on a 300 lakota sport - kawasaki 2004 Bayou 300 4x4

the cam must be timed in with the piston at TDC on the compression stroke..the cam lobes must be where they have the most clearance..they are marks that will line up you should be able to see them when you get everything close to correct time!!

Take the spark plug out , turn the engine manualy , use a wire or cable tie to put into the cylinder . turn the engine manualy until wire or cable tie fully is up , that is you TDC, if you can't find the Mark on the Flywheel .

Hi Ryan , the timing gear marks will possible not mark hundred percent when timing chain is worn much . the tensioner should be inside when you check the valve timing .

Top dead center mark is after the fire mark so pull spark plug use a straw bring piston to top and check which mark is at the timing mark.the firing mark are always before the piston reach top dead center noting is instantaneous it take time for the spark to travel from all the various electrical parts to be on time at the compression stroke.

If you are only getting 65lbs of compression, remedying that would be my next move!! .. I have seen some run as low as 85lbs..run very poor too.. but never at 65lbs. You should let the engine turn over for about 5 seconds to get compression level.

Look for a removable plug in the engine case by where your left foor would ride. timing marks will be behind it.

put rocks in where? if the gas tank then your petcock filter is probably clogged
