Check to see if the choke is stuck or the carb could be dirty (gummed up)
My 1985 Suzuki 125 cc idles but when I give it throttle it does I have cleaned the carb replaced the throttle cable and the fuel pump and it it still dies when I give it gas
I gotta 96 Suzuki quad runner. I inherited it and can't seem to get it running. When I first got it, it ran but it would rev up real high than settle down, then rev up real high. I rebuilt the carburetor, but now it'll start and idle for a minute, but as soon as I touch the throttle it dies immediately. Anyone know what it might be?

I don't know if I can solve it but it sounds to me like you're not getting enough fuel. has it been sitting awhile or just start doing this randomly? If it's been sitting there's a pretty good chance you'll need to clean you carburetor. when gas sits in the bowl of your carburetor for too long it will get thick and smell almost like varnish. My Suzuki 250 4x4 had a similar misfire and cleaning the carb fixed mine.

first thing i would look at is carb balance, these bikes are quite critical on balance,if the carbs are not balanced correctly it will do exactly as you describe, get hold of a set of vacuum gauges or take it to a good bike shop, they will have them,it is not expensive to get them done, but it will be if you dont,it is quite possible you will lean out one or two cylinders and melt a piston or something more sinister

You are getting enough fuel. ck for trash in your carbs

Sounds like a loose piece of crud in the main jet. Have you had the jet and tube above it out? It could also be a spark problem. See if you have spark when it tries to die ( put a nail in the plug boot and get it sparking 1/4" or so to the plug at idle then rev it up, it should continue jumping. I think that bike will also have mechanical spark advance on the rotor on the end of the cam. If the springs are loose on that the spark timing will be all over the map and can make it run intermittantly.

check battery for full 12 volt. newer models wont run on half charged bateries
