Basic tune up. May need the carbs cleaned, new plugs/wires, and ignition system gone over, including points cleaning/replacement (if equipped) and checking for proper operation of alternator charge coil and rectifier/regulator.

Ensure battery is properly charged.

Testimonial: "thanks for the info i thought maybe it was needing carbs rebuilt or maybe some one switched the wires to the wrong plug firing order off "

My kz1300 only starts with the clutch in-and the neutral light dont lite up.I checked the neutral lite bulb and its good. anyway to trouble shhot the switches-i hate to just throw parts at it. Thanks,Doug

the nutral switch would be a simple open /closed switch located near the shifter . meaning if it is in neutral the switch should allow power thrugh and if it is not in neutral there should be no continuity.

This might sound too obvious, and you've probably already tried it, but have you stripped and cleaned the carbs yet? could be worth a go, or you could try draining and balancing them first.
