Hello. I also had a similar problem just this night after I made a journey. My bike just stopped while it was in motion and it's refusing to start up again. The lighting system works when I turn the key ON but the bike wont start. The starter makes a funny sound then it stops. What could be the problem and I'll be glad if I get a solution...thanks

SOURCE: V-Belt flashing

Hi carms

Even although you have just had it serviced, the warning light is triggered by the mileage traveled. So if the belt appears to be Ok, then resetting it has to occur at the point when the indicator comes on. Having said that, I understand that scooter belts can weaken (and break) from internal weakening over time (heat and stress) and not just from external wear and measurement. Over the years I have read about belts breaking (other scooter brands & models) from high use and/or mileage even though they still externally measured within spec.

The "service limit" for the Majesty belt is 27mm (shop manual) or 12,500 miles - so to be safe it should all be interpreted as "replace belt upon the soonest of 12,500 miles or 27mm width"

If they have not replaced the belt in your recent service, then you could perhaps return to them to have it done, or reset the idiot light for you. OR you could do it yourself and see how you go.

If you're wondering where the area that the diagram above is indicating, the reset coupler is the white plastic coupler located under the tailpiece where the battery is located. The rubber strap securing the battery holds it in position and it is the only white coupler in the vicinity of the battery. I also read that you need to have the park brake off to perform this exercise.

I got some of this info from a great site dedicated to your bike. Check it out here. Thanks for using FixYa. A FixYa rating is a grewat reward for my time taken to address this with you. Cheers!

Will not start

You've probably got a dead battery. I'd pick up a new one and invest in a battery tender if you won't be riding it regularly. They are cheap and easy to use.

Only 750 miles on scooter. Put away with stabilizer. Starts bar-o-o-m like it's going to run fine. Then stops and won't start. Checked plug and spark. Plugged line?

The stabilizer is a bad thing for some carbs. It has a chemical in it that can eat away seals and gaskets inside your carb. Grab a gasket set for it, replace those, make sure to spray the carb out, then put it all back together adn you should be ok.
