How do I adjust the carb on my 2004 yamaha ttr 90? If i shake the bike it stays running otherwise it dies out

i cleaned the carb on the bike and put it back together and now it is as if the float is stuck open and is just dumping gas out of the carb all over the ground.

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors. Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains then remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and soak the entire carb in denatured alcohol for 30 minutes. Now clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the "blue" items on the carb and spray into the screw holes as well. Don't mess with #16 but if you must, be sure to count the number of turns and replace the same number of turns.

Be sure to put all screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten #8 and #12 adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.

Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Be sure the bolts are tight. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Set the idle speed with the idle screw. This process should get you back on the road.

I have an 2002 ttr 90. The bike will only start with the choke on. Then once it starts it runs for 3 seconds and shuts off. Where should the jet screw and air screw be set at? and does the choke have an adjustment?

check stator ac output 1st.check pulse coil next. find cdi box to try next.other possibles- ign coil, try unscrewing plug cap & trimming about 1/4" off coil wire. check spark w/ cap off. finally could be wiring.
