Er5 engine full of coolant seems to be coming from the carb into airbox and draining into the breather!

Dear KrazeeCBR,

Most likely you have an gasket failure. Check your gaskets
There is no link between engine coolant and carburator. The coolant runs through your engine and cools it. If the gasket leaks, the coolant will enter the engine. And when you switch your engine off, it will drain into airbox through carburator.

Good luck

My 93 Honda CBR600 TURNS BUT Wont start. it started yesterday but was leaking fuel through the fuel lines so turned it off n took gas tank off n replaced hose clamps n put back together n now it wnt start....

When you put the fuel hoses back and refitted the tank, did you make sure the vacuum tube to the fuel tap was reconnected ?

The fuel tap has a vacuum connection in order that the fuel is automatically cut off when the engine stops - the tap has on-off-reserve manual settings, but this is overridden by the vacuum. So, even if you have set the tap to "on", if the vacuum hose is disconnected/blocked/leaking, no fuel will reach the carbs.

The vacuum hose is about half the diameter of the fuel hoses and connects to the smaller spigot on the tap, and either the number 1 or 2 cylinder vacuum take off point on the carbs.

Fuel mixing with oil whats wronge

Fuel flow not shutting off. Fuel leaking through tap, floats in carbs and into cylinders. Fix tap and carbs. Tap will need new diaphragm and o-ring.

2003 yamaha roadstar leak fuel sometimes after I shut it off I think the floats are sticking any solutions. Rick

Yes Rick, try a couple of tricks I know.First, open the carburettor drain screw located at the base of the carburettor, this lets fuel flow out of the carburettor drain located next to/under it.(To acces this drain screw look between the engine cylinders from the LEFT of the bike)While the fuel is draining out,tap the fuel bowl.Next re-tighten the carby drain screw and see how that goes.I would suspect your bike has a vacumatic fuel tap that has 3 positions on it.1 marked on, 1 marked res, 1 marked pri.If the fuel leaks occur when in the on or res position this means part of your problem is a leaking diaphram in the fuel tap.Replace this & when engine isn't running,no fuel can flow to the carby when it's in the on or reserve positions. After ensuring the tap is ok, and trying the first trick,if it still leaks, well then you'll have to pull off the carby and give the needle and seat a clean.
Hope this healps Regards Andy Porrelli

My rev counter does not work on my kawasaki er5 1999

The ER5 has got an electronic rev-counter, no cable.

Like the oval rear brake-drums this is another ER5 bugbear, the rec/rec fails, the battery boils and the rev-counter is usually a victim too.
Often on ER5 specific forums there will be someone who repairs the circuit board and sells the repaired units much cheaper than a new one. it's usually a tiny zener-diode that is killed.
