Hi. I have an 85 Kawi Gpz 750. I had to list a different bike under the categories tab because they dont have my model. l anyways, last week it was running perfect and i took it for a long spin. A couple of days ago, i replaced the intake boots and vacuum lines because the old ones looked dry rotted. I had to remove the tank and carburators to do this. I have put it all back together, and it wont fire up at all. Even with starting fluid, with and with out choke, it will fire up briefly at a high RPM and then cut out. Any suggestions please? I checked all of the vacuum lines, they are fine. Any help?

You tackled a monster in changing the boots and vac lines. In doing the change the carbs lost the synchronization and balancing needed to start and run properly. You don't want to try the repair yourself. Take it to a dealer and have them do it. If they set the thing on fire it is THEIR problem. If you do it it is YOUR problem. Yeah, it is a somewhat dangerous process since one backfire can light things up when the air filters are not in place. Besides, they have the equipment and know-how to do a proper Sync / balance. Most owners don't. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

Drain the carbs. They probably have some water in the float bowls.

1989 Suzuki Katana. What are the different key positions settings? How do I get to the battery please?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to one of the Katana Categories.

The Katana comes in 3 flavours - 600 F and 750 F and GSX1100.

I was hoping to find an owners manual. Switch normally has 3 positions, Off, Parking Lights (remove key) and Power On (key locked in place). The battery on a larger bike is normally accessed from under the seat, smaller bikes from behind a side panel (left side).

My GPZ 750 turbo starts misfiring after 15 mins running and losing power any ideas?? I`ve had it from new. 30,000 km

To be fair it could be lots of things on a turbo bike, but as problem when hot sounds like a wear problem piston rings go quite a lot on turbos. also after 30,000 kms will need good service. finally check for air leaks around the carb and turbo . new plugs are strongly advised before you spend serious money. the turbo may also be worn but dont touch till last.

Engine will not start, carbs cleaned, but will not fire, no petrol

Check the carb diaphrams for any tears/pinholes? (They are on the top of the carbs) Have you reconnected the breather from the tank? Is fuel getting past fuel tap? Sometimes the vent in the fuel cap can get blocked with crud and create a vacuum which stops fuel flowing.
