Hi. I have an 85 Kawi Gpz 750. I had to list a different bike under the categories tab because they dont have my model. l anyways, last week it was running perfect and i took it for a long spin. A couple of days ago, i replaced the intake boots and vacuum lines because the old ones looked dry rotted. I had to remove the tank and carburators to do this. I have put it all back together, and it wont fire up at all. Even with starting fluid, with and with out choke, it will fire up briefly at a high RPM and then cut out. Any suggestions please? I checked all of the vacuum lines, they are fine. Any help?
You tackled a monster in changing the boots and vac lines. In doing the change the carbs lost the synchronization and balancing needed to start and run properly. You don't want to try the repair yourself. Take it to a dealer and have them do it. If they set the thing on fire it is THEIR problem. If you do it it is YOUR problem. Yeah, it is a somewhat dangerous process since one backfire can light things up when the air filters are not in place. Besides, they have the equipment and know-how to do a proper Sync / balance. Most owners don't. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

Drain the carbs. They probably have some water in the float bowls.
