check whether you might have a catalyst problem,1. doesn't idle as no emissions let out of the exhaust system,2. doesn't accelerate as the engine is pressurized as no released emission. Try to check by requesting somebody to accelerate as steady and you check through the end of your exhaust pipe if the emission outlet sound is loud enough or if is like weak sound.if is the second result surely your cat is the problem as also you receive a smell of a rotten egg as well.

1996 camero v8, after running car and it gets warmed up it quits runnung, after it cools off it starts with no problem??
check your coolant tempurature sensor. sounds like the symtoms of a bad sensor.--- poor cold idle, stalling, ( rich mixture) retarded timing, slow idle speed, cold hesitation or stumble, poor fuel milage, will also ****** timing. hope this helps!

My 1996 dakota ran hot blew the top off the radiator. i replaced it now when it starts it will not idle and runs rough
you may want to have a block check done on the cooling system to see if the head gaskets are any good as this can cause the top of the rad to blow off and the rough running and poor idle.

1996 explorer 4.0 181000 miles ... cranks and idles fine try to accerlerate it dies... cranks right back up .. making a humming noise through the breather... replaced mass airflow sensor and the check...
check for a leak in the air duct between the air filter box and the throttle body. When the mass airflow sensor was replaced you may have failed to get tight connections and any leak in this ductwork will cause problems with driveability. Also check for any thin or soft ruber spots in hoses between PCV valve and the intake. Any holes in these will cause the vehicle to run poorly but normally would be noticed at idle also.
