A smoked clutch or broken tranny shaft. Most likely the clutch.

Please check your clutch or dont start the bike put it in first gear and pul it forward. If you can put it forward without using the clutch then it can be damaged or broken.
Here is an example of a gpz clutch.

You have some good suggestions but I'm curious if the bike had been sitting for a while, or were you in the middle of a ride and it quit? You also said it was shifting but just wouldn't go. Crazy thought, but has the chain broken and come off?

Clutch, most likely. Just to cover all the bases, check that the clutch cable is still good, connected properly, and has a little play in the clutch lever.

Won't changing up gear

The GearBox-press and clutch disk needs revision.
This happens when you avoid using the brakes, more like reducing speed using the gears.
It is very dangerous if it brakes by itself when riding, So I suggest you start by checking the Clutch disk and the Press may be worn out..

Kawasaki gpz 750 won't start and only makes a

hey bud, i know this might be a bit late but sounds like the starter chain tensioner has failed and the gears have vbeen stripped. dont try to start thebike. take the clutch casing off, and that chain and sprocket assembly infront of u is the offending part. google a guy called andy bennett for a manual chain tensioner. replace thes parts with zzr1100 parts as they are stronger. once youve researched and done all that. take the sump off and give it a bloody good clean. then re-assemble and away u go. u can do all this without taking the engine out the chassis. exhaust off, oil cooler off, radiator off. hope this helps. feel free to cantact me. kiltednutter (facebook)

What does the s and w switch for

The S stands for "Sport" mode. It turns on the turbo. When this button is pressed, you will have a higher torque; the gears will change at a higher torque also.

The W stands for "Winter" mode. It allows for a slower takeoff during winter/icy conditions. When this button is pressed, the engine will automatically start on second gear preventing slipping and fish-tailing.

Kawasaki en 500 c1Im having problems changing up and down gears

The bike has some bent shift forks. Bent shift forks do not move the slider gears properly when changing gears. Expensive to fix.
