check inlet valve clearances. they close up making it hard to start exactly as you described. titanium valve coatings wear and ressesion happens quickly,a clean air filter must be maintained to prevent contaniments wearing valve coatings.

Look into your power valve. If it doesn't operate freely, you won't get peak performance. They can get gummed up.

Sounds like you have jets that are partly clogged. Remove the carb, then remove the jets ( pilot-main ) ream them with a small piece of wire until you can see thru them while holding them up to a light. I like to use a bristle from a wire brush because they are firm and also thin enough to go thru the jet.
Took the carb off and everything is clean and we just replaced the spark plug what else could it be
