You should be able to adjust the clutch cable from the top by the clutch lever on the handlebars. There should be a thumb screw at the end of the lever.

SOURCE: The bike will not go into neutral gear when engine running

my husqvarna sm450r does exactly the same thing and my girlfriends yam virago is just as bad, i think some bikes are just too tight, rocking works or try finding neutral as you roll to a stop, on both our bikes it does the trick... nothing worse than trying to find neutral with your hand lol

Dude 48 bikes, impressive! im up to 9 in 20 months since my Ls :)

SOURCE: 1996 evinrude outboard stalls when put in gear

Start by adjusting your idle mixture screw. Start at 1 1/2 turns out and with the engine in gear at an idle slowly turn the screw clockwise until the engine starts to die, then back off a half turn and that will be your proper setting. If you need to you can bump up your idle stop screw just a touch so it will hold also.

I have a 89 f150 with inline 6, manual transmission. my truck is off and I have it in gear? how come I can still push my truck forward or backwards no matter what gear I mean.

ONLY IN NEUTRAL CAN YOU PUSH ANY M/T CAR
UNLESS HOLDING DOWN THE CLUTCH PEDAL ENDLESS IS FUN?
OR CLUTCH IS BAD.
ENGINE IS OFF YOU MEANT. AS IN STALLED OR KEY OFF.

I do not under stand you post and story at all.
does engine run?
does engine start and run in NEUTRAL?
if yes, yes, then I bet ( wild guess 1)
you depress the clutch pedal and can not shift to any gear.
that is a bad clutch, top cause easy is , bad MC/slave to clutch
master cylinder or slave bad
and the MC fluid jar there is dry OOPS dry means MC and or Slave are bad

1984yamaha virago 1000. with the bike running, when I try to shift from neutral to first gear the bike stalls. I think it has something to do with the electrical.. Help!

If you are at idle, in neutral, with the clutch lever pulled all the way in, and you shift into gear and the engine dies, it is likely the switch at the clutch lever. When they fail the bike does not get the signal that the clutch is disengaged and it is safe to shift into gear. Have that switch checked. Some bikes also have a side stand switch, make sure your side stand is always up before putting you bike into gear.

Bike will start in neutral but is not rolling something in the rear is locked

ok- you've got an old honda dual mode transmission. It will start in neutral and will run in gear but you can't transition from neutral to gear-clutch issue,I think its a hydraulic clutch may require slave cylinder or rebuild-first check for clutch plate movement b4 rebuilding-clymers/haynes manual great investment. Next the battery: either the battery is pooched- can't hold charge or the stator/regulator is malfunctioning or has failed and your battery is the only thing powering the bike thus it runs until the battery has been used up, good luck.

How to drive?

you can ride the cluthch on a bike un like a car you wont hurt it its oil lubricated constantly, sitting on the bike pull the clutch in with your left hand and click the left foot lever down in to 1st, then learn how to click it back up 1 half movement in to neutral. the neutral light will come on sfter the bike enters neutral. in first gear give the throttle on the right hand a squeeze and pull the clutch in with your left hand put foot gear selector down in to 1 st and begin to release clutch slowly. hold on as bike will engage may be jerky balance yourself! when you get moving stop! by pulling the clutch in and the hand brake as you close the throttle to stop! practice your take off many times some where safe! when you get your balance in 1st gear pick up speed and begin shifting the foot gear selector up in to 2nd gear and practice closing the throttle and breaking to a safe stop. gears are generslly 1st down 1 click 2345 and6th all up from there and neutral is 1 half a click up from 1st between 2nd gear. And dont put it in gear with the kick stand down t may stall on you

hope this helps

Tough to get out of neutral, and stalls when put into 1st gear, also sometimes difficult to find neutral with engine running, finds it no problem with engine off.

First you need clutch setting to be done & the second common problem is that whn ur side stand is down ur bike will stall. its a safty feature given by yamaha. Hope this solves ur question

Clutch stuck

If it will go into gear with the engine not running and won't go into gear with the engine running, you still have air in your clutch line. I suggest starting @ the clutch master cylinder and bleed the MC by cracking the banjo bolt loose @ the MC. Crank it loose no more than 1/4 turn after you pumped the lever a few times. After the lever hits the grip, tighten it back up and do it again Keep doing that till no air exits the system. Work your way down to the slave cylinder, bleeding the line at each junction you come to. If you still don't have good lever, the slave could be assembled incorrectly or the MC is not up to par anymore. If you have rubber lines on your hydraulic clutch, you can test the air in the lines theory by wrapping a rag several times around the line then pinch it off with a pair of needle nose pliers. Do this close to the master cylinder. If the lever gets hard instantly, you have just confirmed you have air in your lines. You can do the same test each staep of the way down to the slave cylinder. If you cross a point where all of a sudden you loose good lever, that is where the air in the system is. If you bleed all the way down through the slave cylinder and still don't get air, you could have an assembly issue. The other possibility is the clutch plates are stuck together. If the bike has been sitting for awhile, that is a high probability. To fix that, start the bike and ride it around in first gear with the clutch pulled in. Keep revving the throttle as you ride the bike slowly in a safe area away from cars, people and other MC. That may take awhile to do, the oil may have to come up to temp, so it could take up to 30 minutes.
