Responsible for starting the engine when you turn the key or push the start button, the starter draws its power from the battery. It takes that energy to turnover the engine and start the vehicle. Simply put, without a properly functioningstarter, you're going nowhere.

SOURCE: Dyson DC01 - can't get starter button switch off.

this issue is known well with dysons to be honest you will continue to have this problem for as long as you have the vacuum. they use substandard plastic parts which break easy. You will have to replace the button and make sure there are no other broken pieces of plastic in the housing before putting it back together.

SOURCE: Starter problems

you need to check and see if you have 12volts at the relay and if you have 12volts at the wire from the switch on the relay. if you are getting power to the wire from the switch then you may have a bad starter relay.

SOURCE: my 1987 toyota pick up 5 spd will not start when

There will be a switch on the clutch pedal bar under the dash somewhere. When you push in the clutch the pedal touches the switch and completes the circuit. It may be out of adjustment, or just worn out. You can either replace it, or remove it, and pigtail the wires together. Although, if you do that, be aware that it will start in gear, clutch out, and could be a safety issue.

SOURCE: Attempted to start , pushed start button , engine

Ok, make sure your battery is installed and connected correctly. The connections should be clean and tight. Now, look at the end of your starter. You'll see a five sided plate with a tower like thing in the middle on the end of your starter. Just above it is a single wire that plugs onto the starter. Unplug this wire and insert a test light into the wire. Turn your ignition on and press the start button. If the light lights up, your starter is bad. If it doesn, you've got another problem.

If the light does not light up, you'll have to find the starter relay. Harley moves these things around all the time so you never know where to look for one from year to year. I'd start under the seat and then move to the side panels if necessary. The relay is a typical one inch cube made of plastic. When you find it, turn on the igntion and press the start button while holding the relay. It should click. If if doesn't, it's probably bad and even if it does, it's probably bad. I'd replace the part as it's not all that expensive.

If you suspect the starter, go back and remove the three screws that hold the five sided plate onto the starter. Behind the plate you see a plunger with a spring on it. NOW, MAKE SURE THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT OF GEAR. Using a large screwdriver, push the plunger into the starter as far as it will go. The starter should engage and turn the engine. If not, you may have to replace the large copper contacts in the solenoid.

I hope this helps you find and fix your problem

Why does dryer run as soon as main button is pushed.

It can also be a bad relay on the the control board. This problem requires a tech to properly do a diagnostic, its not a simple problem for any technician.

Starter stay on without pushing button

It sounds as if the starter solenoid is stuck or siezed keeping the starter's gear in contact with the flywheel. The starter solenoid needs to be repaired soon or the starer motor will be damaged.

Start button is stuck

The start button is a two position switch. Push in half way and the lights turn off so more power goes to the starter. Push all the way and the solenoid clicks engaging the starter. Some times you can carefully take apart , clean , and reassemble your switch(may just be a loose screw. Worst case scenario go to the Honda dealer or local salvage and get a switch assembly and replace the non working one.

Starter will not disengage

Hehehehe.... Alan, you were pushing starter button to hard before, now it is stuck. Try to snap the starter button connecting plate off from each other before connecting the battery on again. If you know how to open your starter button box and spray some WD-40 into it, all should be fine. Try it...!

Starter problem

I think there are two possible causes here:-

1.(Easy) your starter-button is permanently contacting, split the right-hand switchgear on the bars to check and clean.

2. (Git) The starter circuit relay(Not the starter-relay) in the junction box is knackered causing the circuit to be live as soon as ignition is switched on.
This will be located under the seat or behind a side panel. The whole assembly will have to be replaced probably.

Hope it's the button.

2001 Chev Astro Cargo Van

the problem is your ignition switch.

the connection with the start contact is sometimes missing.

if you want to save money, you can trace the starter wire and hook up a push button wire to start your starter. the other lead of the wire goes to the ignition switch to from the " on " lead so that if you turn off your key, there is no accidental starting of your engine.
