Hi so i bought a 1999 yamaha r6 a few days ago and i was going over the lights and i have running tail lights but whenever i try brakeing with either front or back the tail lights barely come on. This is only my second bike so im still new to this stuff any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

You may have speaker wires touching each other or a short circuit in the wire. "Check SP Wires" means to check your speaker wires.

Did you have this problem before you replaced the M/C? Inspect your brake system for leaks, especially the rubber hoses. Make sure all fittings are tight. Sometimes the caliper's seal around the piston will allow air to **** in, but won't leak fluid. Many cars from the 80's onward had pistons made out of plastic which causes a sticking and leaking problem. Many times rebuilt, loaded with pads, calipers cost just a little more than what a reseal kit costs. They have to be cutting corners somewhere.

If your vehicle has ABS, sometimes you have to hook a scanner up to bleed the brakes correctly. If you don't have ABS, you probably have a proportioning valve and these can cause trouble, especially on a high mileage vehicle.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..

First KTM's are great bikes and are reliable.
Second don't adjust the carb unless you know what your doing.
Third it's a thumper....ie big single cylinder and is also a dirt bike.

So with that being said, if your riding it on the street it's going to overheat and if your riding in tight woods is will overheat as well. The puke hose goes to the frame between the radiators and is a messy location in the event of coolant loss. Most riders make the mistake adjusting thiers carbs when that is usually Not the problem. Unless you've installed an exhaust system or live at high altitude you do not need to adjust anything on the carb Except maybe the IDLE stop screw.

For overheating: KTM has a great add on electric fan kit that will help greatly. Also use Engine Ice or at least Water Wetter for better cooling performance. This costs more but is my favorite....buy some Evans NPG coolant and never boil over again!

Lastly, I'm a huge Husky fan but buying that next is like moving sideways, it's still a 4-stroke. Note... KTM's and Husaberg's (the original husqvarna) are made in the SAME Factory.
