D s Harley fat Bob

09 fat bob won't fire up after being say idle for some time. Cranks over fine, plugs clean and dry all fuses good. No fuel pump sound when ignition turned on so could it be a relay problem. How to test it?

Squirt fuel in carb or tb throat. If it fires fuel problem. You can bypass the relay for fuel pump or check the output terminals if relay for power. I would bypass relay first. If it starts you either have a bad relay or missing signal to relay. Check for voltage to relay and signal voltage to relay. If both present then replace the relay.

It's fuel injected so no carbs, though may check for power at fuel pump itself. Thanks for your help.

No power at FP just confirms no fuel. Depending on how ez to get to FP relay, I'd start with the relay voltage check, both power TO the relay and power out as well as input signal to the relay, i.e., main power relay or on switch on handlebar. You might want to check your bike's wiring diagram and see when the FP gets turned on, i.e., as soon as ignition or with starter.

as long as your volt meter is capable of measuring OHMS you can test wires, find the main power wire to the fuel pump and measure for voltage when you turn the key on(3-4 sec) if power is present at the fuel pump, and the pump don't run, then replace it

SOURCE: It will not start. it turns over and cranks but

even though you replaced it, fuel pump sounds bad....when you turn key on (not a crank)....do you hear a whirring noise from the fuel pump?

SOURCE: 1998 Lincoln Town Car cranks but does not start.

possible just not probable. you need to see if there is any pressure to fuel rail. if not youre going to have to by pass the fuel pump and see if it is getting voltage. if so then apply a seperate voltage and ground wire to the pump to see if it kicks on. come to think of it, it could be the PATS system(security) that shuts down the system. it will crank but will not fire. your ford dealer will need to reprogram the system.

Last night, I lost my headlights, tail and brake lights. when you turn on either turn signal, the front flashes and both rear turn signals and brake light flash all at the same time. any clue? @

Hi, Anonymous if your headlight is not working, intermittent, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your headlight bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to the headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chafed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/low beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

Where is the oil drain plug on a 2008 harley fat bob

1) Drain plug for crank drain, is on the left side of the oil bag.
About a half a cup of oil, always stays at the bottom of the crankcase. (Dry sump. Keeps the crank from having to thrash a bunch of oil around )

2) Primary Cover is on the bottom, just under the derby cover. (Cover at back of Primary Cover )

3) ****** drain plug is on the same side as the fill plug.

Change the O-rings too. Help keep that baby from making 'spots'.
