If the cooling fan does not come on the problem is probably the sensor on the engine or the one on the radiator. If the fan works properly the thermostat could be stuck.

SOURCE: my honda v65 magna runs hot in stop and go traffic

V65s are notorious for running hot in stop and go traffic as it has a liquid coolant system and no cooling fins on the heads or cylinders. An easy fix is to wire in a switch to turn on your electric radiator cooling fan and switch the fan on and leave it on when you are riding in town.

SOURCE: The tail light along with

Pull the seat and the side panels, check all the wiring, plugs and connections for a weak or bad connection. Check the harness for a rub along it's length, any place it touches the frame. Check the fuse box for a bad connection , then check the wiring along the handle bars and under the tank. Look for a loose ground wire at or near the battery. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

I am sorry. My motorcycle is a 1983 Honda magna v65.if I had a blown head gasket would I have water in the oil. There's no sign of that.

Not necessarily, but in many cases. A compression test would be a better way to determine if the head gasket or the valves or piston rings are the problem. If you have a failed head gasket and it is bad in an area that is not near the water jacket, you could have gasket failure without water in the oil. Look on the inside of the filler cap for a foamy or frothy white appearance - that is how you know if there is a water jacket head gasket leak. You might want to verify the coolant level to determine if you are leaking water somewhere.

After winter service on my Honda Magna VF750. Still runs, but gas drip underneath tank. Possible gasket damage? What all needs done? Change oil and filter and what else?

You may have a loose fuel line after doing your winter service. Check that they are all snug. If the petcock had force applied to it, you may have damaged the petcock and will need a replacement.
Also check the bottom of the tank and the seams, ensure that the tank isn't rusting from the inside out. I had a V65 Sabre do that once - from previous owner improperly storing bike with only a tiny amount of gas in tank.
