When you hit the starter, do the instrument lights dim, does the solenoid chatter, or does nothing happen? Check that your leads are fitting well to the posts and well tightened. Also check the earth cable. Often when changing batteries, the cable gets pulled and loosens on the frame.

not running for a year! You have a varnish buildup in the low end circuit of the carb. You will need to remove the carb and do a full teardown of the carb to properly rectify this problem. SOMETIMES we are able to free up the passages by putting SEA FOAM cleaner in the tank , fill her up with fresh fuel and ride through the tank and it will clear up. SEA FOAM can be purchased at an auto parts store and is sometimes very effective. 1/4 cup to full tank fuel.

If it will not turn over at all recheck the connections on the battery . Make sure both ends of the cables are tight at the battery and the ground and positive where they run to opposite the battery . Check the fuse or fusible link if equipped .

18. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
19. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
20. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections are loose or connected to the wrong cylinders.

22. Faulty neutral, clutch, kickstand safety switch.

The battery is charged but when you try to start the bike it makes a clicking sound. If you keep trying to start the bike it will start. 2002 Dina wide glide

sounds a bit like either a battery that is starting to go bad and not giving you enough cranking amps or a loose or bad ground wire.

I would check all the cables to the starter, battery and frame to be sure of clean contact and tightness.
also try a new battery to see if that helps
if this all fails then you may have to pull and rebuild the starter

hope this helps
