I would check the spark plugs for fouling and change them out if needed. Other than that, I'd agree with Gregg and ask for more information. year of the bike, does it start and ride, is this an intermittent issue or all the time?

SOURCE: 2003 kawasaki ninja 250 stalls and bogs

Stalling is usually caused by water on the fuel tank. Drain the carburetor, better... clean it. Blow air on the jets and needles. Drain the main fuel tank and check for water residue (brown)... siphone the fuel back to the tank. assemble and install the carburator and you'll be off to a cleaner burn. Also, make sure that the spark plugs are cleaned.

SOURCE: gear box problem on a kawasaki zzr 600 1994 reg.

Sounds somewhat like a bent shift fork not letting the slider gear dogs fully engage the gear. You probably have metal particles in the oil. Keep riding the bike and you will likely need major repairs. The metal particles are abrasive and thus destructive. Think of putting a teaspoon of fine sand into the gearbox. You can trash an engine pretty quick that way. I suggest you fix the gearbox now, before the top end gets too involved.

Backfire in airbox

The fuel system(carbs, tank, and petcock) needs to be cleaned out. If you are not familiar with the process, taking it to the dealer or a mechanic is best. I have also written other articles on fixya about cleaning carbs

Need to make a compression test on each cylinder in case you need a new cylinder head gasket, test the thermostat and check that the radiator fan works ok.Also after installing a new battery (which you should cause the old one will damage you regulator eventually) check that the charging system works ok.

Backfire won't crank

I had the same problem and a friend of mine told me to check the valve clearance.... rocker cover off and slide a feeler gauge under the cam lobes (when the lobe is pointed directly upwards) you should be able to easily slide a .08mm gauge in and have trouble with a .13mm but should still go in (just) if this isnt so then you need to undo the nut on the rocker and adjust the clearance using a screwdriver on the thread. This worked for mine. Hope it helps. IAN

Help with service

Your bike is a four stroke. The gear box and engine are one unit. Standard 10w40 oil goes into the gearbox. The gear box oil IS the engine oil.
You need to buy the oil anyway, so why not go to the Kawasaki dealer and, after buying the oil, ask them show you how to check the oil level. Ask them to tell you what maintenance you should do as the owner. Don't be shy. Ask them "what do you mean by that".."where is that part on my bike?"... How often?... and so forth. They will be glad to give you a first hand education on standard maintenance needs.
