SOURCE: main jet sizes

The sizes are stamped on the Jet it self. For the Honda Shadow it is a 185. Not sure for the steed.

SOURCE: hard to start kawaski barako 175

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A known common issue with the Barako with either the kick or electric version specially when cold, in the early hours of the morning or if have not been used for some time. A couple of initial ideas to try:

  • leave the petc0ck open (even overnight);
  • before starting, twist the throttle a couple of times;
  • use the choke;
  • you may be interested to explore the possibility of modding the carb with one from an Eliminator.

In most instances, tyagaan lang yan but of course is a pain pag nagmamadali.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

How to tell which needle and seat go to which carb, factory stock?

Manual says - VT 1100 88-96 main Jet both nr.165, slow Jet 42

For VT C2 and 1100T main front 175, rear 180 , slow 42

For 97 main both 178 , slow 42

You can read Nr. on Jets, they are small

I have 175 and 180 size jets in my carburetor on my 04 Sabre. Are these stock? My Dynojet stage 1 kit has 160, 165, 170, & 175...which are smaller...

It doesnt matter if the jets are stock or not it is a myth that the jets must be bigger when you put a stage one kit in. Remember stock jets are there for EPA standards and what size works to pass is what the manufactor will use. I have many times put smaller jets in a carb even on race bikes to get a better performance. I hope this helps.
