Pump is blocked or valve faulty, or broken pump internally. remove cover check each valve first , if ok remove pump head . turn motor look for piston movement , if no movement, replace or repair pump head.

SOURCE: 2-yr old troy-bilt pressure washer with honda

It sounds like an air lock. Try this: With the machine off, connect the hose to the washer and let it run for several minutes to get all of the air out of the hose, and to purge any air out of the pump. Shut off the water, and connect the high pressure hose, but not the gun. Let the water run for several minutes. stretch out the HP hose and make sure that the air is displaced. Shut off the water, connect the gun, and purge as before. Now crank it washer up. As quickly as safe to do so, open the trigger to keep water moving through the washer. It should come up on pressure very quickly. It is better during normal operation to keep water moving through the system. When I am through for a while, I shut down my washer, but leave the trigger depressed to allow the pump to stay full of water, and cool. This prevents further problems when I restart it.
Hope this was useful.

SOURCE: Ex-Cell VR2500 Builds Pressure but Won't Spray

I have a similar problem and diagnosed it to be a problem with the gun. I spoke to a technician that services this pressure washer and he walked me through all the diagnostic steps. The pump is working because there is pressure being built up and the gun sort of works because you can get water out before the washer is started. The technician said that the mechanism inside the gun is either clogged or broken. I am going to Home Depot or Lowes to purchase a new gun and will try it tonight. Guns are only about $30-40. He said generic is fine as long as the thread matches and PSI is in range. Good luck!

Hi, Karcher calls the unloader valve a spill valve,
this is a link to a full drawing/parts listing , and your fault description might well be a sticking /seized unloader(spill ) valve hope this helps
http://www.pressureparts.com/ManualViewPage.aspx?Manual=/mmDEV/PDF/karcherparts/g2500vh.pdf

the part number is on page 9 of the drawing
spill valve 45910400
hope this helps , we usually use some good quality silicone grease to lube the valve ,

SOURCE: pressure washer does not spray consistent flow of pressure

Pressure washers have a pressure regulator/unloader that bypasses the water back into the intake when you let go of the trigger with motor running. If you let the machine run for long preiods in bypass the system could be damaged due to heating of the water being bypassed. The water is in a closed loop. The as the unloader wears it will tend to want to bypass which is what is happening in your case. Dirt trapped at the tip will cause this also. Install clean tip to solve problem. If clean tip did not help then try lowering the pressure by turning pressure regulator counterclock wise. If problem is gone then parts are failing but keep using pump. Good luck.

SOURCE: Campbell Hausfeld PW1380 Pump won't run when water hose is connec

http://www.ppe-pressure-washer-parts.com/campbell-hausfeld-pw138000-pressure-washer-parts
Hope this helps. I have the same problem. It's not the switch but the mechanism that slides inside the switch, which activates the switch to go on and off. I fnally found it so hopefully they have the part in stock. It's not a clogged wand trust me I have torn it completley apart and found out it is the mechanism in the switch is plastic and breaks.

Why doesnt my powerwasher pump out water

check for a blocked jet in the end of the wand ( squashed hoses or blocked hose to the wand)
the blocked jet has the same affect as not pulling the trigger and the pressure regulator bypasses the water back into the pump

No pressure build up from pump

looks like this is a small triplex pump.ensure the pump is acually turning over with the power unit and the love joy coupler is working properly and there is no stripped out key ways ect. was the hose jumping before the loss in presure? this could indicate a washed out in the intake or dischage valve. or debris hung up there in. check the pressure relief valve/unloader valve for proper function may be the pressurised water stream from the hose is by passing .repair /replace as required.

I have a 3000 psi campbell hausfeld gas pressure washer and it has no pressue how can i fix it

Small stream sounds like your pump is not working at all - you are getting house pressure only. First check the intake fitting where you attach the hose for debris that may be clogging the water flow. Same for the pressure hose and quick connect fittings. Remove the tip from the wand and see how much flow you get. If it's still only a small amount, with the motor running, you probably have a bad pump. This can be caused by bad seals inside the pump, or by running the motor without maintaining water supply to the pump, which can melt the seals or even seize the pump if allowed for too long. Repairing the pump is typically more work and expense than replacing it, assuming you can locate a replacement pump.

When water is running through system, the motor has to run to keep the pressure built up. So, if the water is leaking out, the motor think it needs to keep running to keep the pressure built up. The leak needs to be fixed to the motor will not run constantly.

I get hose pressure from my Brute 2600 psi, 6.75hp power washer when the engine is not running, but when I start the engine, I get no additional motor pressure.

The pressure you have when the motor is not running is supply pressure through the unit. When you start the motor it will build up pressure then shut the pump action down until you pull the trigger of the gun. When you release the trigger the pressure drops to zero . This happens through a relief valve that the pressure hose is connected to. If what I stated is not happening then there is a problem with insufficient water supply to the machine or a problem in the relief valve.

Portercable Pressure Washer Model PCH2401

when the trigger for the wand is not pulled , there is a pressure relief valve that bypasses the water in the pump and so there is no pressure until the trigger is pulled again.
with the pump getting hot and not being able to pull the motor to restart, it indicates that that pressure relief valve has jammed ( faulty ) and the pump is running at full pressure all the time
That will heat the pump and stop the engine from restarting
That valve is where I would start looking for a problem
