Hi, the starter is located on the top side of the engine just under the carburetors under a cover secured by 2 bolts, the startor clutch is within the left engine case, firstly i would check you have sufficuant power in your battery, also that it is not in gear, the bikes prop stand is in the uprite position and you have pulled in the clutch lever all the way to the handlebar before yoe make any attempts to replace the starter motor. Also locate the starter solenoide this is the magnetic switch used for connecting the battery live to the started motor, this is the thick wire at the plus side of the battery after a short wire it will connect to the solenoide lift up the covers from over the 2wires ang momentarily bridge them together using a pair insulated pliers this should then turn the starter, if it does then the problem is elsewere as you are directly powering the starter, WARNING you should always remove the battery leads when removing the starter to avoide accidental short circuits

hi
im not sure if that is your starter
sounds more like the starter clutch
and for that you will need to remove your clutch cover
also the clutch cage
the starter clutch is located behind the clutch cage
remove the clutch cage
and the starter clutch is either on the rear of the cage or a separate unit
it looks like a ring the size of the clutch cage
and has slots in it with roller bearings the slide in and out the often stick because of old oil residue
and if they stick it stops your starter engaging with the clutch housing to turn your engine over
hope this helps

My 2002 yamaha vstar 1100 classic started and ran fine. now the starter just spins. it wont turn the engine over to start it. i already changed the battery. what could be the problem?

The one way clutch inside the motor is slipping. On the back side flywheel is a one way clutch that grabs the starter gear when the starter motor spins. It is designed to let go of the gear once the motor fires up. If the mating surface of the one way clutch and the starter gear becomes rough or chattered, it will no longer grab and turn the motor over. To repair this you will have to take off the crankcase cover and pull off the fly wheel to replace the one way clutch and the starter gear.

Where is the starter solonoid located 04 aveo

You will need to verify if the starter solenoid is getting power when you are attempting to crank it. I dont have a diagram, but the clutch switch may be the problem if you must depress the clutch to start the engine.

Replaced starter relay but truck still will not start. Will start if I jump the relay. What else could the problem be.

The starter relay is energized by the ignition switch, through either the neutral safety switch, or the clutch safety switch.
