With the engine cold take the cap off of the radiator and lean the bike over to one side and listen for gurggling sounds. there could be air bubbles trapped in system. with the cap off start the bike and see if the coolant is circulating. it's probably a bad radiator cap. It's not holding pressure when hot to let the system work right. i think it has a 1.1 cap, maybe get a 1.6 cap and see if it helps

2 Harley dealers spent 75 hours diagnosing it, dealer could not reproduce it. Last repair was to replace battery cables. Seems to have fixed it. Have ridden 15oo miles since repair. Problem reacurred once last time I rode. Again complete shutdown bike restored after 2 minutes. Did not happen again the rest of the day over 200 miles

SOURCE: radiator fan not working

Be sure the wires are hooked up, and it may not have gotten hot enough to turn on the fan in just a few minuets. Ride it close to home, up and down the street for a bit to see. Just do not go far until you know for sure.

Recently had radiator, hoses, heater core changed. After 5 to 10 minutes of driving gauge goes up to just about red lines

make sure that there is no air in the system. Most vehicles have a reservoir and a fill location because the reservoir is below the top of the engine. take the cap off the highest point and then run the engine from cold. the air should work its way out. keep an eye on the antifreeze reservoir level top up as needed. once the bubbling has stopped replace the cap, and see how it goes.

hi..
this is due to the following reasons
1. the fan colong the radiator is not fuctioning properly so please check it amd service if not properly working.
2.the radiator may have chocks which os preventing the coolent to cool the engine properly. that is rate of heat exchanging is reduced.

two things could be happening.......first is vapor lock......make sure you breather tube is clear and working........next is ....it could have a bad ignition coil on it.....after the coil gets hot the spark can become irratic or just not work any more.....

1997 Bonneville lost power going up a long hill

The only thing that comes to mind is the catalytic convertor in the exhaust system. It can become restricted, reducing flow in the exhaust system, which also reduces engine power. These convertors run at fairly hot temperatures, and the extreme heat and conditions aggravated,or overloaded it.It's not very expensive to have it checked at a reputable muffler shop.I have seen extreme instances where this caused parts of the exhaust system to turn red, glowing hot.
