SOURCE: Code Reader reads Shifter Solenoid Stuck or Off

The Shift solenoids are located in the transmission oil pan. I would recommend replacing both shift solenoids while you're in there. Also replace the filter and pan gasket. The shift solenoids are located towards the rear of the valvebody and will be identical to each other. They are held in place by a retaining clip which is easily removed with a small screwdriver or similar tool. Care must be taken as parts may fly out of the bore when the solenoids are removed. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Auto Transmission in 94 Chevy K1500 will not shift into 2nd gear

Hi, yes I just had the same problem and the clutch packs inside the transmission are slipping. I had to replace all the clutch packs as well as the bands. The parts for this job really aren't that expensive. you could get everything you need for less than 300 bucks. however labor is where they kill you. It's about a 10 hour job or maybe 12 depending on application. average shop rate 80 an hour you looking at 900 dollars labor plus parts. if your mechanically inclined and have tools you could take your time and do it yourself. you can buy a step by step DVD for your specific application. other wise I would call around to transmission shops. their is a slight chance it may also be your solenoid pack. the best way to confirm is to have a transmission line pressure test done. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: 92 chevy s10 4x4 4.3L manual transmission no 3rd gear

Hi:

Your transmission has 3 shift rails...
1st - 2nd
3rd -4th
5th- Reverse

If your 3rd gear doesn't work , you have an internal transmission problem, such as a syncronizer, or similar fail... There is not much you can fix, without removeing the transmission.

Rebuilt 1987 Toyota pickup auto won't shift out of 1st gear

Hi,

Please check for worn clutch, old transmission fluid/stuck solenoid.

These seem to be the most common causes of these issues.

Thank you.

01 accord 2 codes p1751, and p1700

1700 is a generic code for many makes and models referring to a transmission issue.1751 is directed to the shift solenoid valve b. May be able to replace just that solenoid and be ok. Cheaper than a transmission.

97 Chevy Tahoe code Po 758

This is from Repair Pal...just Google your code (P0758) to find other helpful suggestions

OBD-II Code P0758 is defined as a Shift Solenoid B Electrical The purpose of the automatic transmission is to match the engine's optimum power and torque characteristics to the driver's desired rate of acceleration and speed by auto-selecting different gear ratios or 'speeds' to power the wheels. Shift solenoid B enables the transmission to shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. It does this by re-directing the flow of the transmission fluid which changes the position of the shift valves in the valve body.
When the code P0758 is set in the Powertrain Computer, it means that the Powertrain Computer or PCM is not seeing the specified rpm change that occurs during a shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. It's also not seeing the correct increase in road speed from the vehicle speed sensor.

P0758 Symptoms
  • Check Engine Light will illuminate
  • Vehicle will not shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear properly
  • Decrease in fuel economy
  • In unusual cases, there are no adverse conditions noticed by the driver
  • In some cases, there may be performance problems and possibly misfire-like symptoms
Common Problems That Trigger the P0758 Code
  • Defective Shift Solenoid
  • Defective Shift Solenoid wiring or connector
  • Defective Valve Body
  • Dirty transmission fluid that restricts the hydraulic passages

It is the prnd indicator switch on the shift shaft of the transmission,or a shift solenoid,or the valves are sticking in the valve body, try some lube guard, added to the transmission,it is great for stuck valves.

93' Grand Cherokee does not auto-shift to high gear until I hit 50-mph.

This is most likely the throttle position sensor. It sounds odd I know, but the throttle position sensor helps tell the transmission when to shift. This same thing happened to my Jeep. The sensor is located on the intake manifold on the engine and costs around 45 bucks.

To the guy who spent 2300 dollars getting a transmission rebuilt: They saw you coming and you got totally screwed over. I can get a cherokee transmission rebuilt any day of the week in the range of 800 to 1000 dollars. WOW check out your shops and mechanics a little better before you jump into a rip off.

1997 Ford Taurus, Won't Shift Past 3rd Gear

Ford is very common for tranny problems. Most likely your tranny will have to be rebuilt. As a mechanic myself, I would suggest taking to tranny specialist to see if i needs to be rebuilt, or if the electrical unit is faulty. It will have to be tested with voltmeter/ohmmeter/multi-tester
