I have an 02 yamaha r1. it has 12000 miles on it. it cranks over but will not start. i can take and disconnect the fuel line from my tanks to my injectors and plug it back up and it will start. i can ride it all day and then shut it off and let it sit for 20 min and it wont start up jus cranks over. my engine light came on and then my exhaust got really loud and started backfiring or popping back. the light will come on and go off. when it goes off it sounds fine and runs fine. my spark plugs were black on the ends. i changed them like a month ago. i went from the cr9eix to the cr9e.
Hi mate ,,to have black plugs ,the fuel is to rich,, if u no wot your doin matey,, u will have to clean the carbs out 1st,, take carbs off the bike turn them upside down ,,undo the bottoms ,, take out the jets and idle jets ,, and blow threw them so u can see daylight threw the little holes,, clean any brown residue out as well, ,while the tanks off n stuff, one at a time pull the plug cap off ,, unscrew the cap from the ht wire,, and just snip a liitle bit of the wire off ,,just so u can see a copper lookin wire pokin out the inner of the ht wire,, then screw the cap back on ,, and put back on the plug,, try this little service 1st,, if nothing come back in ,,and il tell u the next step,, cheers
