Inject some carb cleaner spray through the opened air filter while cranking.
Spark plugs work? timing on the camshafts ok?
Crank it without turning the throttle on.
Pull the choke cable if you need to.
It should fire up without throttle.
Use the carb cleaner spray to help it (don't spray too much.It will backfire from the carbs).

The spark plugs if they are blackish it means rich on mixture and thus they have fouled up and will give you hard start. If they are brownish whitish tht means they are ok, and if they are whitish means the engine is running lean.
Since you checked the the fuel pump and after removing the pipe fuel gushed out it proves tht the pump is functioning.
Getting back to spark plugs....remove one of the spark plugs and earth it on the cylinder head somewhere and fix the lead head to it and thn crank start the engine and see if theres good bluish sparks at the spark plug.
I would recommend you first to examine the spark plugs , replace them if necessary and try to start it.

SOURCE: runs poorly, feels like miss fire, sometimes runs good(rarely).

You can do a continuity test on your coils and plug caps as follows:
1:Disconnect the coil connector drom the wiring harness.
2:select (O x 1)
3:put tester + lead on red/black terminal and - lead on orange(grey)terminal.
4:Your primary coil resistance should be between 1.87~2.53O at 20C.if OK proceed to step 5.
5:Select ( ωx 1k)and check secondary coil resistance(between the two HT(plug leads)this should be between 12~18 kωat 20 C/86 F).
You can also check sparkplug cap which should be 10k.ω
This is just a basic check but I would do is remove plug lead from the offending cylinder ,take up the revs and see if the miss-fire has gone.If so swap your coils around and see if missfire occurs on the other cylinders.If not your coils are OK.
If the missfire is still now only occuring on the one cylinder then you need to do a compression test()and if OK remove carbs and check also the inlet rubber manifold(for cracks ,seating etc.)and then service them.
Once off you can also see if the butterflies are in sinc.But do these simple tests and if you have a problem come back to me.

If you are not getting spark then it would be the CDI box, Coils, Pickup trigger in Engine.

It sat for 3 years,it was running very well.before it sat,it cranks over but dont start,i got tank cleaned and new gas in tank but still wont start,could it be my fuel pump?

Hi you need to drai. Thd old fuel out of thd carberator's look for a small screw at the very bottom of each carb. If this doesn't help the carbs need to come off and be cleaned. Also the plugs could be wet with the old fuel. Good luck.

You say that you have spark,...so first things first,id check the carbs and make sure that you are getting fuel. If you are getting fuel,and spark,pull the plugs,and check the condition of the plugs. Are they wet,carboned up,white? And while you have them out,do a compression test on each cylinder. It should have at least 100 psi on each cylinder. On the fuel rail you will see a shrader valve, press that while someone cranks the engine to see if there is fuel pressure, check if there is spark at the spark plugs. You need fuel and spark to start. Let me know.

Cranks no start just died restarted a couple of times now nothing

Check to see if your fuel pump is kicking on. You should hear a buzzing sound for a second or two when you first turn the key. If you don't hear it, check your fuel pump fuse/relay or fuel reset if equipped. It could be a clogged fuel filter. You need to make sure gas is getting fuel to the engine. If it is, then you need to check for spark. It may be because of spark plugs/coils, wires, distributor, dist.cap, rotor, cam sensor, crank sensor, ecm. When you car doesn't start but cranks, there is many things that can cause that. You need to do a spark test and make sure that your getting good spark. It could be the timing belt. You need fuel and spark to start the car.

Engine cranks but wont start.

You'll want to start by checking the fuel pump. Turn on the ignition and listen if you can hear the fuel pump working. If nothing, check fuses & relay for the fuel pump.

The jeep is turning over, just not cranking. Could that be a spark plug issue?

pull you plug wires 1 at a time while someone cranks the engine. hold the wire close to the engine. you should see some spark from the boot. if all plugs DONT have a spark,then the ECM is bad. if all DO have a spark,then listen for the fuel pump powering up,this will make a whirring sound from the back of the vehicle for about 3 secs. if you dont hear this sould,then the fuel pump is bad.

I hanve an 04 yamaha r6 it cranks and i can hear the fuel run but it just wont start i even try to push start but t still dont work what can it be.

you may have fouled your spark plugs, the fun part is changing them you'll need to pull the tank, and air box. if you need more help let me know

Car cranks but wont start. I have no power to the

well if spark quits fuel usaly will to computer will do this to stop cadilac converter from filling with fuel!and causeing a fire saftey feature!!!!okay disconect battery wait a couple of minutes reconect! turn key on postion do not start or crank!off then on until you hear a GRRRRunt that is your fuel pump that is what you should hear turn your head to the right towards back seet and once you hear it that means pump is good then crank it then spark should quit if the coil packs a r bad then you have your problem if so test for spark also if you have eng light on cut the case hook up obd 2 scan find the fault and fix THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO CHEERS!
