While driving down highway, transmission felt like it slipped out of gear so I dropped it to 3rd and it kicked back in but it wouldn't shift out of that gear. I stopped and shifted through neutral, reverse, park, then back to drive and it was still stuck in 3rd gear. After I shut the car off and waited a couple hours, it seemed to shift fine again. Any ideas???

sounds like you should start by dropping the pan and changing the filter, put cheap fluid in it or reuse the old fluid if its not too bad bring it to a shop and have a transmission flush performed with a good flush machine your valve body is sticking and this should clear things up please rate -jeff

I had the same thing! It was a computer issue. It only cost me about $35.00.

it sounds like the transmission solenoid or possibly the transmission itself trying to go out

Sounds like a linkage/cable to me. Disconnect the linkage at the transmission and move the shift actuator by hand to see if there is the same things happening. Don't try to do this with the engine running unless someone is holding the brake inside the car.
