Looking for a fuse box panel for a 1990 kawasaki kz1000 p9

Its probably a fuse. I had a similar issue with tach and spedo not working:

The coils are for cylinders #1 & #4 on one coil and #2 and #3 on the other, the wire connects to the coil and then to the spark plug. Only wire length dictates what port on the coil to use. Just make sure #1 and #4 are on the same coil and you will be fine.

On earlier models, the fuse panel is located on the firewall above the driver's left foot. On later models, the fuse panel is located on the underside of the instrument panel, covered with an access door.

Kawasakis of this vintage have an automatic cam chain tensioner so the timing chain adjustment is not likely the problem. The chain itself may need to be replaced however, which is not a difficult job for a mechanic with a shop manual to follow the proper sequence and reinstall to specs. Otherwise, you may wish to seek professional help. If you do, ensure the mechanic knows Kawasakis of that age group.
